Classroom Management Reflection
Classroom management is a very important concept in a classroom. In my future classroom, there will be many different strategies I use. The first thing I want to do with my classroom is to establish the classroom rules immediately. “Establishing rules on the first day of class, and always follow through on the specified rewards for achievement and consequences for misbehavior” (Kline, 2015). At the beginning of the year, when the rules are shown, the students will sign the rules like a contract. By signing they are agreeing to obey the rules throughout the year. Along with this I will always make sure I use positive language and feedback. This way the students will feel motivated and willing to try and give answers

The exit ways needs to be clear. Along with that everything needs to be organized, and there needs to be space for storage. Keeping supplies in an easy reachable place is a good way to manage the space in your classroom. This will also keep the classroom organized. Having a kidney table in the classroom means that there can be more one-on-one intervention with the student and the teacher. In my classroom I would also like a rug with bean bag chairs so the students can go to a “quiet place” to read or work on assignments. However, the bean-bag chairs are not for all day purposes. This will be used for a reward for good behavior. If the students do not behave during the lesson, the student will not be allowed to sit in the chairs. This goes for a round table as well. I want to have at least one round table in my classroom, this way the students will be can work with their peers without sitting in the floor. When I create the layout of my classroom I want to make sure that all students can see the board clearly and that no desk is too close to another. For my teacher desk I want to make sure that I can see all students clearly, so I will be able to see if they misbehave. Then when it comes to the seating assignment, I will have it done randomly until a problem

The use of rugs and carpets can lower the level of volume in a room due to absorbing more of the sound. These areas also promote social interaction among students due to the welcoming environment they create. A teacher can determine if their classroom is in need of more carpeted areas by observing the noise level during activities. This is why it is important that they are aware of how they can create an environment where learning can be achieved. If the room is too loud, students will not be able to focus and may also become overwhelmed.…

The purpose of the Best Practice lists are to provide students with a classroom environment that will produce the maximum learning potential. Even though this list was updated in 2012, there is most likely no classrooms that follow the list perfectly, but some classrooms operate under most of the points on the list. Ms. DiMaria, at the Lebanon High School, provides and creates an atmosphere in the classroom that follows the Best Practice’s list to the best of the districts abilities. A constant theme throughout the points on the list is the increase of student interaction in the classroom. The reduction of standard lectures and the increase of student-student interaction are a couple points on the topic, and Ms. DiMaria does her best…

In this case study, Rich Thorpe is an extremely passionate first-year teacher at West Alton High School. Rich was very grateful to have received this job, and has put a lot of effort into his teaching, despite the pressures of a first year teacher. For the first three quarters of the year, he has had good classroom management skills, and his students respect him as a teacher. He clearly spends time thinking about his students because when he noticed a few of them were struggling toward the end of the year he became concerned and wanted to help them out, especially since their behaviors effected the entire class.…

The games and toys were one of the largest centers in the classroom providing the children with a play kitchen, blocks, tinker toys, trucks, and puppets among many other playthings. The group areas covered the seven areas that are essential to creating an effective learning space, especially the fine and gross motor skills and social development. Each child was also provided with adequate personal space. They all had their own cubby and desk area.…

Final Exam: 1. The quote, “Classroom management is 90% of the job.
