Reflective Essay: My Personal Christian Philosophy Of Storytelling

Improved Essays
.As I continue along this journey of life there are many things that have shaped my faith and allowed me to create my own Christian philosophy of storytelling. The three major points that have developed me into who I am are the background that has got me to where I am today, the most important things in my life that can help the world in ways, and the way people need to stay connected and be able to forgive others no matter what the situation might be. I hope that other people can start to develop a philosophy about faith and storytelling that is similar.
When I was a little kid, I only attended church every now and then. If my family was busy then we did not go. Also, we would play on travel sports teams and always play games, resulting in

The three points that have shaped me into the person I am are the background of my life that I have lived in order to get me to the point I am at today, the major things in my life that can help the world in new and different ways, and the ways that people need to stay in tune with others and allow for forgiveness to take place whenever there is a situation that makes them mad or upset. I hope that I can be someone in the media someday that can live my life to show others about my philosophy regarding my faith and storytelling and how if we start to change the world little by little we are eventually going to get to …show more content…
The example I listed above about the family who lost their son was only one of the many example that have given me a new understanding about certain aspects of life. This book has introduced me to many things that I must strive to do in order to get to a peaceful world. It also has shown me the extremes of certain topics and the ways that people have dealt with these extremes. In order to try and make a difference in the world, I will need to strive to accomplish things that Schultze discussed. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this book and all the ideas that it accomplished throughout twelve different

It says in the book of acts that "and they said, believe on the lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, And thy house" (act 16:31, KJV). Looking back on my passed five years of knowing Jesus I would describe it as a rollercoaster ride. Back in sixith grade I was going through a transition from Crosswalk to Hang time, Elementary School to middle school, and ultimately finding who I was and knowing Jesus. It was my 2011 Hangtime Winter Whiteout when I accepted Jesus into my life. Every year we do this thing called " Cry Night " that Winter Whiteout in particular we watched clips from "The Passion of Christ " and it was to the song " How He Loves " by David Crowder.…

There are many stories told in my family. Anyone and everyone told them, some nights it would be my mom and other nights it would be my grandpa. There would always be two stories read; the first one would be from a book called “My Book of Bible Stories”. This book has so many pictures asks questions has descriptive words and is still one of my favorite books. After that story whoever was telling the story would make up a silly story usually about a blue or green man with a giraffe that went traveling and exploring (I have no clue why).…

“Our enemies have made the mistake that America’s enemies always make. They saw liberty and thought they saw weakness. And now, they see defeat.” George W. Bush stated this about the cowardly September 11th attacks. During that fateful day I was glued to my poorly constructed high school chair, gazing in disbelief what was unfolding on Mr. Cox’s History class television.…

Narrative ethics is the idea that a person is within a story that he or she should follow (Wilkens, 2011). Christian narrative ethics hold this same idea; however, it follows the story of God and Christianity. The narrative of Christianity is the point of ethics and therefore, cannot be separated. Stanley Hauweras believes strongly in Christian ethics as the main narrative ethics. He claims that ethics cannot be separated from the theology and points to new ideas as proof.…

My worldview closely resembles the Biblical Worldview described in the Charry text, but by no means is anywhere near where it could be. My Christian character will continue to develop and mature throughout my life as I continue to study the scriptures, commune with God in prayer, continually ask for repentance, and forgiving those who have showed transgressions toward me. L. Gregory Jones states, “Christian living requires a willingness to inquire after the God of Jesus Christ, an inquiry which shapes us a people of repentance and forgiveness” (Charry, 2000, p. 204). Repentance and forgiveness are two aspects of the Christian walk that I struggle with. There are many times that I get so busy with life that I forget to prayerfully repent…

Neglecting Religion Family trips, vacations and roadtrips are always a fun thing to do with family. Even if it’s just going out of town for the day, going camping for the weekend or even leaving the State or Country for a few days or weeks. When going on these trips, you usually expect the best of it and don’t seem to think of the negatives, like something terrible happening. I myself have been on family vacation and roadtrips many times before. My family and I always have a great time when going on these trips and never expect or try to think of anything bad happening.…

I think a writer's voice is their own style of writing, a perspective, and a tone. Our style is the mechanics of our storytelling. I think over time our natural style will develop and as we read various works, we begin to be influenced by the styles of those we choose to read. We begin to pick up bits and pieces along the way and eventually define our own unique style of writing. Experiences is what will shape our voice.…

Once a week, I meet up with my friend Michael to talk about some of the bigger ideas that seem to consume the great majority of my thoughts. Our bonfire chats generally last until 9 or 10 PM, just in time for me to catch some of the George Noory show on my way home. How can you not love a talk radio show devoted to aliens and conspiracies? The other night, however, 1290 AM was not coming in too great, so I scanned the dial and stumbled upon a voice that could only be that of a Christian preacher.…

Christianity has always been a vast part of my life and an abundant part of me. I grew up in a Methodist church, the same one my parents were married in, and where I was baptized. My childhood memories are filled with skipping down the church halls to Sunday school and playing in our chimes and bells groups. Although I am not an extraordinarily talented singer, I was even a member in our children’s choir. I spent many summers at our Grand Mesa Methodist Church Camp and participating in our vacation bible school.…

On August 26, 2005, I gave my life to Christ, and it was the start of a whole new chapter of my journey. I still remember that night vividly in my head. The feelings of excitement, joy, and love were very tangible in my heart. My mom and dad were both sitting beside me on my bed while I was told the importance of this decision and how my life would never be the same. Even at 5 years old, I was aware of my decision to follow Jesus and accept him into my heart.…
