What Does My Grandmother Mean To Me

Great Essays
I was born on December 7th, 1998 at 7:45 in the morning. The earliest memory that I have is of someone (my mom, I think) holding me at my Grandma’s. My Grandma owns a farm up in Washington State and has horses, chickens, cats, and a dog. She has had the farm since before I was born, but her husband, whom I have never met, is gone. I don’t know if he has died, or just left. I don’t even really know his name. Anyway, she is the one ‘outside’ family member that I am really attached to. I practically grew up at her place. I was never close to my aunt, but for a long time, it was just my sister and I playing with her two kids, my younger cousins Ezra and Kessy. Growing up, I moved several times. When I was born, we lived in this tiny house on a …show more content…
All he did all day was sit in his room and watch t.v. or play computer games. I pretty much raised my sister, and we learned how to use the microwave really fast. All we ate was t.v. box dinners, and, as we got older, we ate frozen pizza more and more. My mom met Denise, who is now my other mother (they got married), and had her take care of us while she was at work. Soon, Denise’s dad, Lon, visited and decided to move up to Washington. We went on a three-week road trip, going through Idaho, Montana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon, and back into Washington. We visited several famous places on the way, like the Crazy Horse statue, Mount Rushmore, Disneyland, and the Redwood National park. We picked up Lon along the way, in Kansas City, Kansas, where he was living at the time. My family and I moved him into a house in Spokane, Washington, where we also moved for two short years. I went to two new schools while living there-as I was in between 6th and 7th grade (Most schools in the east side of Washington have 6th in elementary and 7th as the start of middle school)-which was different for me because I had not been to a school bigger than a hundred kids before that. The middle school alone had a thousand kids in …show more content…
I am always reading! I love any books with fantasy, romance, magic, fictional worlds, and death. Several (I can never pick one) of my most favorite books/ TV shows are: Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, and Doctor Who. I love Jurassic Park, the Marvel movies, and my most favorite, Tangled. One of my hobbies is to play World of Warcraft, an awesome computer game. I am also on Tumblr all the time (like any other fangirl). I don’t really watch television all the time, only the select few that I listed before. Other than that, I play with my two dogs, Porschia and Denali, read, pet my cat, read, and sew. I like to eat all the time. I never stop. Sometimes I even wake up in the middle of the night hungry and go eat more food. My all-time favorite food is cheese. I eat that most. After that it’s breads. Anything with homemade-type bread in it, and I will eat

It was definitely something I had to get used to, from eating étouffée to half of a ham sandwich every other day for dinner. After a while of me making sandwiches or fixing a big pot of ramen noodles for everyone, it seemed as everyone was depending on me to have something to eat ready when everyone came home from work. The living situations was also something to acclimate. It Sixteen of us in a three bedroom apartment, but somehow we made it…

With this in mind, Denny’s brings back a lot of amazing memories I had with family. These memories are moments in life I can always look back and always smile about it and relive those memories in my mind. On top of that, the food that Denny’s serves is very gratifying, in fact whenever, my family and I decide to go to Denny’s I always order the mouth watering, Double Cheeseburger and the delicious seasoned fries. Equally important, the fact that my family is eating together is the best thing in my mind about Denny’s. In fact, having my whole family present enjoying a meal together makes me extremely happy because we hardly eat a nice meal together, due to the fact that my family and I are all busy with either, school, work, or other activities that we have going on.…

I say biological because my dad has half siblings with children, although my family has never been close to them. On my mom’s side, I am the main niece my aunt talks to. My aunt also has half siblings with children, but they 've never been as close as her and I were. I was also the only grandchild until I was twelve. This was very special to me because it meant that I was always the center of attention, the priority if you will; my aunt Andrea surprised us by having a son later in life when she was 44.…
