What Does My Grandmother Mean To Me

Great Essays
I was born on December 7th, 1998 at 7:45 in the morning. The earliest memory that I have is of someone (my mom, I think) holding me at my Grandma’s. My Grandma owns a farm up in Washington State and has horses, chickens, cats, and a dog. She has had the farm since before I was born, but her husband, whom I have never met, is gone. I don’t know if he has died, or just left. I don’t even really know his name. Anyway, she is the one ‘outside’ family member that I am really attached to. I practically grew up at her place. I was never close to my aunt, but for a long time, it was just my sister and I playing with her two kids, my younger cousins Ezra and Kessy. Growing up, I moved several times. When I was born, we lived in this tiny house on a …show more content…
All he did all day was sit in his room and watch t.v. or play computer games. I pretty much raised my sister, and we learned how to use the microwave really fast. All we ate was t.v. box dinners, and, as we got older, we ate frozen pizza more and more. My mom met Denise, who is now my other mother (they got married), and had her take care of us while she was at work. Soon, Denise’s dad, Lon, visited and decided to move up to Washington. We went on a three-week road trip, going through Idaho, Montana, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Oregon, and back into Washington. We visited several famous places on the way, like the Crazy Horse statue, Mount Rushmore, Disneyland, and the Redwood National park. We picked up Lon along the way, in Kansas City, Kansas, where he was living at the time. My family and I moved him into a house in Spokane, Washington, where we also moved for two short years. I went to two new schools while living there-as I was in between 6th and 7th grade (Most schools in the east side of Washington have 6th in elementary and 7th as the start of middle school)-which was different for me because I had not been to a school bigger than a hundred kids before that. The middle school alone had a thousand kids in …show more content…
I am always reading! I love any books with fantasy, romance, magic, fictional worlds, and death. Several (I can never pick one) of my most favorite books/ TV shows are: Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, and Doctor Who. I love Jurassic Park, the Marvel movies, and my most favorite, Tangled. One of my hobbies is to play World of Warcraft, an awesome computer game. I am also on Tumblr all the time (like any other fangirl). I don’t really watch television all the time, only the select few that I listed before. Other than that, I play with my two dogs, Porschia and Denali, read, pet my cat, read, and sew. I like to eat all the time. I never stop. Sometimes I even wake up in the middle of the night hungry and go eat more food. My all-time favorite food is cheese. I eat that most. After that it’s breads. Anything with homemade-type bread in it, and I will eat

When I first learned of this assignment my first thought was to interview my mom. She is the one person in my life I am closest to. Since we are only twenty three years apart, I thought it would be best to focus on her life up to the point where she decided to have kids. Though I knew most of what she told me it was still nice to just sit and talk about her life experiences. My mother was born to older parents and was the youngest of three children.…

I think everyone can relate to some sort experience that has happened in your life when you thought that all was well, but the reality was that it wasn’t. It took something really tragic to happen for you to find out that someone you loved had secrets. All of the things that you thought of that person is shattered into a million pieces and you’re left there trying to sort through them trying to choose the ones you want to hang on too and the ones that you would sweep up and throw away forever. The conversations that you have with those you love sometimes still leave unanswered answers to why someone that was supposed to take care of you decided that someone was more important than you. It was March 1st, 1993, my Grandmother has passed away 4 days earlier.…
