Entrepreneurs create opportunities for themselves, are risk takers, innovative, creative, always favor challenges, and are highly optimistic. These people have the skills and are courageous and daring enough to take good new ideas to market and make the right decisions to make the idea profitable. So for us, musicians, being an entrepreneur thinker is very important for us in order to make a living. There are so many careers in music out there for us, for example, writing and production (arranger, orchestration, producer), music business and management (publisher), music educators (choir/band director, private instructor), music producer and engineer, and so on. Some good examples of old school entrepreneurs would be Telemann, Beethoven, Liszt, Paganini, Mozart, etc. These were all the visionary, creative and innovative people who have made a positive difference in their community. They were musically gifted, dedicated, and deeply passionate about music and their job. But in my case, I am still taking some time to train myself to use my skills, talents and experience to see opportunities where others do not. I am learning how to think as an entrepreneur, and to develop the abilities that will help me become successful in the future. The entrepreneurial abilities that I would like to develop during my degree are my personal characteristics, for example, the ability to keep going during the phase of hardships, taking risks, being resilient, and being a visionary, improve my social skills to get along with people easily. In my opinion, to be an enterprising orchestral musician is about recognizing opportunities and understanding how and when to capitalize on them. You have to use your talents and experience to grab them as soon as possible. In order to do that, the first step would be to impress in auditions at your level best, since it’s your only opportunity to win that job to get a place in the orchestra. And the key would be to use your unique talent and skills, showing off your artistry and quality of musicianship, because nowadays a lot has changed on the audition scene, the procedures are much longer and job offers aren’t as many, so you really have to give it all you can. To be enterprising as an orchestral musician, in my opinion, is to be skilled, confident, creative, and disciplined enough to seize opportunities that present themselves. To be prepared beforehand, always finding a way to keep yourself actively working towards new projects and materials, interacting and playing with many types of people will make you more well-known, try to seek new information and music, learn new stuffs and do things out of the box, being ingenious and daring. A very good example of an orchestral musician who is very enterprising is
