Life is rather interesting, at the age of fourteen, my life completely turned around. Living in a luxurious world, which consisted of pampering, spoiling, and having anything my heart desired, and the best life could offer, without my even realizing it and within a few months’ time, the world I knew changed. My father moved to the states from Egypt at the age of seventeen and immediately found work with no need for a college degree. My mother, however, a very well educated woman, having had attended the most prestigious schools in Egypt, including college, did not put her education to work outside of the house. After meeting and marrying my father, she moved with him to California giving up any ideas of a career, and remaining a housewife and dedicated mother. My mother devoted over eighteen years of her life to raising her two children, focusing on making sure my brother and I had a very privileged life; sending us to the distinguished schools from a very young age. Suddenly I found myself living in two homes with parents who were more confused than I was. My mother, absent from her career in accounting for so many years, did not know the first thing about living alone with the responsibilities of a being a single parent. Starting over was my father’s only choice, trying to find a new job that would support the family and crippled by not having a degree, with the economic word collapsing and businesses letting people go instead hiring, resulted in my father living in his car for seven months. My brother had to move out as neither of my parents could afford an extra bedroom for him and his things. I continued to think to myself this was only temporary and one day life would go back to normal; it has been four years and the only changes made were six different addresses for which I packed and
