12:30 meant that it was time to cut the cake. Yes, I was that kid. I always planned my parties in a notebook. I would design the cake, sketch a room to layout where decorations should be placed, and have a moment-by-moment schedule of all the festivities. Little did I know that my youthful dreams were becoming the footsteps to my career goals. I have always been driven towards planning, organizing, and executing every detail in celebrations, get-togethers, and parties. As time passed and I grew, my aspirations have not wavered. With a yearning to learn more about planning, marketing, communications, and managing resources, I have chosen Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences as my career path. I have a strong desire to help people create and make special memories as well as strengthen family bonds as they celebrate unique moments in life.
These moments are often deeply rooted in traditions. Traditions help form the foundation and structure of our society and turn strangers into family. To create an event and breathe new life into the traditions

I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). This syndrome causes blood to pool in my limbs. Because of this, I experience dizziness, headaches, and fatigue along with a list of other problems. I have shown signs of POTS since I was two; however, it went undiagnosed until I was a freshman in high school. Unfortunately, this syndrome has a few downsides, one of which being that it has caused my grades to be lower than they should. Even though accommodations have been helpful, living with POTS has caused a few bumps in my academic career. It is a complicated syndrome that is hard to live with, but I am an overachiever who refuses to give up. My grades have been improving as I continue to learn how to balance my health, school, and work, and I will continue to better myself with both diligence and alacrity as I pursue my degree in

Throughout my educational career I have had several great teachers. To choose my best teacher is difficult for me since each teacher was for a different course and they had a unique personality and style of teaching. Overall, I would have to choose Mr. Poska as my best teacher (not necessarily my favorite teacher). I took AP Calculus I & II with him during my junior year of high school, then I took Calculus III with him in my senior fall semester. I also happened to have him as my junior and senior advisor during Connect.…

At Timberhill Place, I predominantly talk with the residents on how their lives are going and what their aspirations are. Considering my career goal is to become an occupational therapist, having time to spend speaking with a population that often utilizes occupational therapy is very very valuable. In addition to this, I simply enjoy talking with the elderly.…

Throughout my high school career, I have acquired a great amount of experience in preparation for many of the aspects of a successful college career. For example, I have developed a deeper understanding of the value of an education and have worked hard to receive money to fund my education. My family has always taught independence; thus, obtaining the funds for my education has been solely my responsibility. I have no other help, except scholarships and financial aid. I feel this scholarship suits me because I am not one to give up until my goals are attained and, currently, my goal is to have little to no student debt when graduating from college.…

Finances (business) has always been really interesting to me, that is why I chose it to be my major. Although combat arms would be a hell of a lot more fun, I believe there will be more opportunities when I get out if I utilize my degree while I’m an officer. Finance Corps officers have five core competencies, fund the force, banking and disbursing, accounting support and cost management, pay support and management internal controls. All of these competencies relate directly towards my degree. My top three jobs that I will likely pursue after I serve will be a financial manager, operations manager, and a financial advisor.…
