What I want to be When I Grow Up Since I was a young child I knew I wanted to work in the medical field. Of course, when I was younger I did not know what I specifically wanted to be when I grew up. During middle school, I decided I wanted to be a physical therapist (PT), and I dreamed of attending the University of Georgia to make my career choice a reality. Most of high school I stuck with my plan to become a PT, but during my junior year of high school, my career choice changed. I was doing a career search after school one day, and I stumbled upon occupational therapy (OT). For a long time, I battled between choosing PT or OT as the career I wanted to pursue in life. Finally, I made the decision that I wanted to be a pediatric OT because I have a passion for children and helping. I have reevaluated why I want to be a pediatric OT. Through research, I have explored what it will take to become a pediatric OT. First, I would like to focus on why I chose this certain career path. No specific person influenced me in my decision on wanting to become a pediatric OT, but the people in my life who encourage me to achieve my life goals have supported me. Through this profession, I will be able to positively impact the children and families I will work with one day. Being able to be a helper, and an encourager is a large part of this career.
