One of those major influences was my 10th grade English teacher, Mr. Edge. Mr. Edge pushed me past my limits with school. In high school, most of my grades were given to me. In Mr. Edge’s class he never gave me a grade, he always challenged me to do better. At first, I thought he did not like me for some reason, and then I realized he just wanted me to succeed, to earn what I worked for in his class. Another one of my influences would be my high school football coach, Coach Newman. Coach Newman was not like most coaches, he did not just teach us about football. He taught us how to be men, and taught us life lessons. Coach Newman was the father figure that many players did not have. He took time out of his day to make sure that his players were getting their academics straight, and made sure that they were getting everything in line for college. My biggest influence is my father. My dad is a Physical Education teacher, the same field that I want to go in. I saw my dad work with all different types of students. I enjoyed watching my dad teach, and watching his students learn. I love the fact that his past students came back to school, or would see me in public and have nothing but good things to say about my dad. When I start teaching, I have many goals I want to accomplish. My main goal is to influence lives. As a teacher I want to make children want to come to school and learn. I want to help push my students to go after what they want to achieve, to go beyond measures to get what they want. Another accomplishment I would like to achieve is to be a role model. I want to be the teacher that my school did not have. My school did not have many teachers that cared about the students. I want students to have someone they can come talk to.
