My faith has always been the driving force of my life. I live by the notion that everything happens for a reason. Ecclesiates 3:1 declares, "For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven." When I first began my college career, I struggled trying to find the best career path for myself. For years, I went through the motionsof taking classes and preparing my schedule in a way in which I believed my college experience should be, until one day I realized that I was not enjoying school anymore. Learning was not fun, rather it was becoming more of a chore. At a very young age, my parents instilled in me the value of kindness. Unlike other things, kindness is priceless and can make a difference in a family, community, or even in the world. It is a way of telling someone that you care. I find it very enlightening to serve the community. I remember as a child, going out to feed the hungry and volunteering at elderly homes. One time that I remember very vividly was going out with my family and visiting different homes around my church community that were not as fortunate as I was growing up. I realized the value of serving others and putting the needs of others before my own. I felt how important it was when I saw the reaction of teenagers being able to enjoy the little things I might have taken for granted around the holiday season. Had it not been for those types of community outreach programs, I would not have fully grasped the concept that others might never have the opportunity to experience the same things I did. Through these lessons, I realized just how passionate I was about helping people. It was something about being able to see the smiles on someone’s face that gave me a sense of accomplishment, no matter how big or small the circumstance was. I took great pride in knowing that I was able to encourage and strengthen people at times where they may not be at their
