As a high school senior, you should already know what you want to do or at least have some kind of an idea. For me, I just recently made my decision on what career I want to pursue. It wasn’t always apparent to me, but I finally realized that I want to be a Dermatologist.
I chose this career because I’ve always wanted to work in the medical field. However, I’m not one for needles and blood. This raises a little bit of a problem because that is mainly all that the medical field deals with. Despite that, dermatology doesn’t overly deal with these things - making it possible for me to choose this career. It is also something I could see myself enjoy doing until I retire. In addition, it has a large salary. Altogether, this would be a win-win-WIN career path for me. The most important criteria for becoming a dermatologist is the education and training needed, the job outlook and salary, and the types of skills that are needed for the day to day tasks of this job. Dermatology is the science that is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the hair, skin, nails, mucous membranes, and even genitalia (DermNet NZ). A dermatologist is the medical expert one should consult if they are having significant problems in these areas. Dermatologists diagnose, treat, and help prevent these diseases and conditions of the skin. They deal with more than 3,000 different diseases (McIntosh). These diseases range from things as minor as acne to something as major as skin cancer.…
