My Career Obligation For ESPN

Decent Essays
My career goal is to one day to be a broadcaster for ESPN, but in order to do that I would need to have a internship with ESPN. In order to do that I would need to have connection with someone who works for ESPN. Before I get that connection I need to learn how to become a professional broadcaster, and Chapman’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts is absolutely the best place for me to learn how to become a sports broadcaster. I love all the resources that the college offers to all the students, and if given the opportunity, I would take full advantage of all those tools and resources. The reason I want to attend Chapman College is because the education and resources offer to the students. Chapman is also special because of where it is located.

During the football games, I am the liaison between the head football coach and the athletic trainers. This means that I follow the coach during the games and if someone gets hurt, one of the athletic trainers will alert me through a radio when they are ready to go back in the game or if their injury will prevent them from playing the duration of the game.…

There are few things in sports journalism that I’m more comfortable with than a beat. My experience – primarily in college as a writer, then editor, of the Daily Bruin at UCLA – has been shaped by the beat system. UCLA’s strongest athletic teams are often the Olympic sports rather than football or men’s basketball, and the Daily Bruin is lucky to have a large enough staff to fully cover all of those teams. Since my first day in the Sports Department as a contributor on the men’s water polo beat, I’ve been trained to go to every single practice and every single game, developing close relationships with players and coaches in the process. That first season with men’s water polo was like being thrown into the deep end, as I entered midway through the 2014 season.…
