My main career interest is being an owner of a small business; therefore, I interviewed Brian, the owner of Danny’s Smokehouse BBQ. Brian is one of my classmates in my Behavioral Organization class, and I learned of his ownership through class discussion. After class, I asked Brian if I could interview him, as a small business owner, for a career interview project, in which, he accepted. We met after class on March 29th in a conference room at TVCC. The interview took 40 minutes. The interview was relaxed and open, and we were comfortable with each other as we have known on another for a couple of months through classroom interaction.
Part Two: Interview
1) Describe what lead you to become an owner of Danny’s.

He said if you leave anything open to interpretations, it will go wrong.
16) Describe the processes you have in place for employee feedback.
He said employees give feedback during one-on-ones or as needed. He is very open to suggestions, and listens to his employees so that they feel more comfortable coming to him with suggestions or issues.
17) Describe the technology you use when communicating with employees.
He explained that, besides phone calls, texting is acceptable; although, there are rules that must be followed which he has not had too much of a problem with. Employees understand that they must receive a response from him to ensure that their message is received.
18) Describe the technology you use when communicating with clients.
He said clients call for catering scheduling or come into the restaurant. They do not have any other technology for client communications as of yet, but they are working on it.
