More specifically, I am interested in the health disparities that exist between women of different races. I have attended several Public Health seminars that addressed race in medicine, and I found that this topic truly entices me. From attending these seminars, I learned that some people believe that race should not be used in medicine. However, I feel that race holds greats significance in medicine. Race is especially important when analyzing the various health disparities and trends among different groups of people. Therefore, as a future healthcare professional, I plan to educate my patients about these disparities. I am always in search of new ways to challenge my mind and expand my knowledge. At this summer program I would be able to expand my knowledge and understanding of the sciences. Also, I intend to build strong connections with future and current healthcare professionals. I believe that it is important to gain connections in healthcare, because I have learned that healthcare is all about collaboration and common understanding. Overall, I believe that this summer program will prepare me for a medical school and ultimately a healthcare
