My Career Courses

Throughout high school, I have taken all honors courses (when applicable) and really pushed myself to take challenging courses. When trying to coordinate my schedule, rather than look for the easiest courses, I choose what would be more beneficial for me and my future.

My career/college interest is Finance and Psychology; therefore, I am taking AP Statistics and AP Psychology my senior year. In addition to my AP courses, my remaining five classes are all honors. Unfortunately, I am unable to continue with my fine art (Honors Band) as it is only offered at the same time as my AP courses. After taking six years of Band as my fine art, I have had to switch to an Independent Study for Band. This has given me an unique opportunity to serve

I believe that CTE prepares secondary and postsecondary students of all diverse backgrounds to obtain gainful employment and creates an ultimate experience of knowledge and development. I have had the opportunity to work in a CTE field of healthcare for my adult life. I believe there is no better educational system to have real measurable growth for many students than CTE. Many of the students and graduates I have had the opportunity to work with would have never had the chance for personal and financial growth if it were not for a CTE programs.…

As a kid I always thought science and math were the best subjects to study. Yet I always wondered why I thought these were of more worth than my other courses. During my high school years I learned that there are programs that focus on these exact subjects and prepare you for a career in these fields of study. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) classes are becoming more and more present in the classrooms of high schools, even traveling as far as middle school. Project Lead the Way (PLTW) and VEX robotics are two programs that help in the administering of these extra classes in the school system.…

The most challenging yet rewarding class I have taken in high school was AP Psychology. This course consistently challenged my way of thinking and constantly drove me to ask questions about the human mind and behavior. I found myself searching for ways to apply the concepts discussed in class to my everyday life. In many ways, this was my favorite part about this class. Psychology is used to explain why thirty minute naps are better than two hour naps, and why studying over time helps with memory and information retention.…

My primary career interest is in law, with my end goal being a federal judgeship. Within the past year, I have discovered, and not once doubted, my deep-seated passion in following the Supreme Court of the United States and its justices. Chief among the many personal truths I have discovered through my Court watching is that I relish genuine debate and reasoning. Indeed, the idea of sorting through legal texts and briefs while charged with the responsibility to settle a vigorous legal, and perhaps social, debate appeals greatly to me. This appeal is so great that I have, actually, put myself in the shoes of a judge by reading Court opinions – majorities, concurrences, and dissents – in full and extracting my own verdict.…

This is another reason why I need an exceptional academic career. While my school is advanced in the area, I feel as though there aren't enough courses for me to excel in further into the future. I began taking advanced courses in seventh grade, starting with honors math. This put me into the advanced track in eighth grade for Algebra 1, and as well as this I was also recommended by my seventh grade science teacher to take a Biology and Living Environments course. Due to taking these regents classes prior to high school, I’m currently taking Geometry and Chemistry.…
