My academic and professional journey began in August of 1997 while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. As an undergraduate, I held a dedicated focus aimed toward a terminal degree with an interdisciplinary focus and a career as an agent of social change. My academic success over the years paralleled a passion for working with underserved populations. Since completing a bachelor’s degree, I have earned a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution from Abilene Christian University, and dedicated over a decade serving as an educator, counselor, intermediary and advocate for children, youth, the aged and individuals with Special Needs.
My affinity for working with underserved populations has manifested in numerous forms throughout my life and afforded me the opportunity to work with both domestic and international organizations committed to helping individuals and groups in need. During the course of my professional career, I have worked within a sundry of organizational structures and milieus; where I have endeavored to directly impact the lives of others in meaningful ways. While rewarding, working in altruism is often hindered cultural and social misunderstandings, red tape, hierarchies, and discrepancies between espoused and enacted company values.
