My Career As A Writer: My Analysis

Improved Essays
Throughout, my undergraduate career I was able to take a course that allowed me to meet other veterans that were starting the same academic journey as I was. We were able to share each other experiences that shared one overarching idea, deployment. This stayed with me for some time as I progress through my years as an undergrad.
I became interested in screenwriting and television writing in the end of my second year of undergrad. I was intrigued with the fact that I can write about any experience that I had previously been in. I took motivation from my military career and the veterans that I had met in previous situations whether it was college related or not.
This was a main vocal point in my military themed television series. I was able to create a show bible that was based mostly on my experiences in the military. I find that the series is unique

I look forward to meeting more people that can contribute greatly to my ongoing growth as a writer.
As I have my focus on gaining skills that can help me as a writer. I also want to grow more as a person by attending your graduate program. I feel it will expose me to a different outlook on the writing that I never witness before. I am intrigued also by the mission statement of the program by looking into the Christian lens of writing. This is what I am interested in because I also want to grow as a Christian as

Our veterans helped us with so many things in the past, but the most important one is freedom. Without independence, our generation’s everyday life would be played out so much differently. If you know who Morgan Freeman, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, or Chuck Norris are then, you’ve known an USA veteran. For example, Morgan Freeman, enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and trained as a fighter pilot until after four whole years of his training he left the Air Force.…

The willingness to fight for one’s country was once perceived as a heroic crusade but has since been left behind in the folklore of history. This fabled heroism was exhibited on a global stage during World War II by the pilots of the Army Air Force. One such pilot, eager to enlist, was an exuberant 22 year old John “JR” Plowden. In my interview with him, I realized, that even through the atrocities of war, goodness and peace can still be found. He was more than happy to be part of the war and made the most out of it.…

Special Forces Operator “De Oppresso Liber” translates to “Liberate the Oppressed.” One must interpret the connotation of that phrase, and harness that feeling in order to make a positive difference in this world. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented” (http://holocaust.hklaw.com/essays/2010/Kirstin_Ney.pdf).…

Say the words soldier or veteran, and countless images come to mind. Children and teens imagine a hero, one who saves lives, and happily returns home as a knight in shining armor. Adults too, carry these images in their minds often forgetting that there is much more to a soldier's return to civilian life than this simplified, idealistic version that exists in our heads. Veterans go through more trauma than most people could ever imagine, they go into war without realizing that the faces of battle don’t have an age limit, and that they are required to kill without feeling. Combat-soldiers see their friends die in front of their eyes every day.…

Meeting one of my oldest friends, Dakota Black, helped to introduce me to the world of reading and writing. I met Dakota on my third day of fifth grade; I was playing with the tetherball during recess when I played against him. We started talking and decided to hang out after the school day, and once my mom dropped me off at his house we started chatting. I learned he was interested in writing and I feigned an interest to keep the conversation going.…

Describe Yourself As A Writer I’ve come to realize that after years of writing papers, I’m actually a better writer than I give myself credit for. I’ve noticed over time that I’ve advanced in how I structure my paragraphs, however, not so much with my sentences. It’s like making a cake look delicious at first glance with frosting and decorations, but then you take a bite and there 's way too much sugar or it 's overcooked in the inside. My strength in writing includes: using better words to describe what I’m writing about, spelling complex words, creativity, and passion.…

Fiction I has been one of my favorite classes that I have taken at ARGS, so far. Though the countless writer’s block filled nights spent wanting to jump through a window and the excessive amount of money I have spent on tea/coffee this year, I would still do it over and over again, every time. I valued getting able to focus on my weaknesses as a writer in this cass. I also valued all the time we had discussing writing, books, and current events. Most of my favorite conversations from this year have all been from this class.…
