Police Interview Experience

It was October 8, 2015, I walked into the police station not knowing what to expect. When I walked to the desk they asked me for my name, and Patrol Officer Jonathan Bransfield greeted me. I was brought behind the desk into the dispatch center where I filled out the paperwork to go on the ride along. After signing the paperwork Officer Bransfield showed me around the station where I was greeted by everyone. Officer Bransfield showed me the temporary holding cells, the booking room, the chief’s office, the severe-weather reporting room, and the detective’s office. I felt welcome to be in the police station. Officer Bransfield asked me, “What got you interested in the force?” (Bransfield 1) I said, “Well, it was either military or law enforcement, and I didn’t do so well on the ASVAB so I picked this”. Officer Bransfield explained that he spent four months in Lathrop, Missouri, then transferred to Buchanan County Jail, and has been an officer in Cameron, Missouri for two years (Bransfield 2). My second question was “Why did you become an officer?”, Officer Bransfield responded, “I wanted to join the military but I had a back surgery, and my parents were in the Air Force” (Bransfield 3). When Officer Bransfield mentioned his parent’s military career I was excited to hear more, and we talked about how he was allowed to ride in C-130 Hercules airplanes and visit air force bases around the United States as well as a trip to Hawaii. I ask him to explain what he does on an average day.
