My Career as a Medical Doctor
Saving and helping lives is a huge task and responsibility which I want to have. I want to become a doctor so I can help people with maintaining their health. I imagine being a Family Physician is going to be stressful, because there is a lot of work and pressure. Even though there is a lot of work, I want to help people with their treatment options and overall health. It pleases me to see someone up and going. As a doctor, I can identify early stages of a certain disease and notify the patient to get immediate help. I imagine to work with and be around different people all day. Before deciding Family Physician as my career, I wanted to know how much education is needed and how much salary is given in this career.

A Family Physician and a General Practitioner are types of Medical Doctors (M.D.) ("Medical Doctor: Job Description & Career Info"). I want to be a M.D., a doctor that examines patients and prescribes medicine if needed. They also read test reports and explain the results. To be a doctor, you need certain skills and qualities. In case of emergencies, a doctor needs to be able to think on his/her feet to do what is best for the patient. You need knowledge of all the types of diseases and the accurate medicines to cure them. A doctor must be able to cooperate and discuss information with fellow workers and the families of the patients. You have to be able to communicate with different types of people, because you have to work with them. Being cooperative with patients and staff is something you should be decent at. Listening to people and understanding their problems is an important skill needed to further assess their health ("Occupation Profile"). There are some occupations that are similar to those of a doctor. Registered nurses, Pediatricians, Veterinarians, and Surgeons are also like a Family Physician ("Family and General Practitioners").
