Sudden Realization
I have always had an interest in people and the way we operate. I often found myself studying people by means of observation. I wondered why we do the things we do. Why do people get so upset? What makes a person smile? What makes someone feel loved? What causes someone to simply explode? Those are all questions that encouraged me to go more in depth into the study of human behaviors. I know that there is a cause for every action a human take. Understanding those causes will not only work in my favor when dealing with my career but it will also make me a better, more understanding person. I get satisfaction in helping others and being able to acknowledge mental and emotional instability when it is present. Although I have

In that two-year program I learned about the role of a cosmetologist and how we are more than just hairstylist but we are counselors and often times the first person woman open up to about their life problems. It is our job to make sure that our clients are satisfied in every aspect possible. It seems as though careers with a counseling outlook are my “calling”. I often times help others with their life situations. After they explain the situation I have to carefully analyze and give my best personal judgement. Realizing that the feedback I give will affect their upcoming actions, I must know how the brain works and what will trigger the response that they are wishfully hoping for from the person or persons they are interacting with. Psychology plays a big role in all conversation. People cannot make any mental decisions without using some sort of psychological thought process behind it. For example, when a parent tells you what will happen if you do not follow their direction you begin to second guess the decisions you were going to make and mostly likely you will make the decision with better sounding outcome. That is called using reverse psychology. I used that method once when having an argument with my boyfriend. We often fought about what we would do on the weekends. In order for me to get my way I had to use reverse psychology. Majority of the time the conversation would …show more content…
A few example of some of those careers are counseling, teaching and child psychologist. One career that interest me most is a forensic psychologist. Forensic psychologists are called upon during legal disputes such insurance hearings, custody battles and other types of lawsuits. They may study criminals, determining which traits they may possess. I first discovered forensic psychologist when watching the television show “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit” or “SVU”. On the show there is a character named Dr. George Huang. He is highly educated in forensic psychology and psychopathology. His knowledge in those subjects enables Dr. Huang to understand, empathize and predict the actions of both suspects and victims. I was inspired by the character of that show. He was not the main character but he was indeed my favorite. His role was very important in unveiling and closing cases. I think that someday I could see myself following that certain career path. Psychology is somewhat of a broad subject. Needed in almost every field of work, I realize that I have many options to choose from. As I continue to search I will keep in mind my goal in pursuing this field of study which is to help people. Rather I’m helping someone personally in a counseling setting or helping the law enforcement close an important case, I will be doing something that I’m growing to love. Going after a career path that is not highly sought after, I

For most of my childhood, I basically had my heart set on becoming a veterinarian, along with many other things. Some of the other careers I considered include a surgeon, a physical therapist, an oncologist, and not at all related to those, a photographer. However, after looking into those careers, none of them appealed to me the way a forensic pathologist did. One reason I believe I should go into forensic pathology would be how I have always been interested in murders and other causes of death, especially how investigators and detectives determine how it happened. I have also always wanted to do something in the medical field.…

My entire life I have always wanted to do something where I would be remembered positively by many people. I recall always telling myself I was going to become a backup dancer for a famous singer, become a singer myself, or maybe an actress. Better yet, I thought I could have been all three.
