This field is growing because there is always a need within the medical field. There will be a need for required nurse anesthetist to be able to perform procedures accurately and without deaths because of the anesthesia. More people grow older and become sick and need surgery. Medical care is always growing rapidly. The profession is currently in a nation-wide shortage of nurse anesthetist. This is because there are many sicknesses and not a lot of people know about the job or are willing to go through the constant schooling that this job requires. There has been a huge decline in nurse anesthesia graduates because the entry rates are high and the classes are very hard and challenging. The demand is for both regionally and nationally. My aunt works at the Easley hospital and she always tells me that I have chosen a great career path because the need is so high. “Nurse Anesthetists work closely with physicians to provide patients with anesthesia and related care before, during, and after surgeries and procedures. The anesthesia may be a general anesthetic, putting the patient to sleep, or a local anesthetic, which numbs a specific area of the body”(Rasmussen College). The daily activities in the job includes watching the patient while being under the anesthesia. This is to make sure the patient is okay and that they are not going to wake up during the procedure or that their body is not reacting in a bad way towards the chemicals.
