My Biology Summer Program

In my life I always wanted the answers to questions, but this wasn’t enough. I wanted to know “why?”. I soon found these answers in a place of learning, interests and so much more, my biology classroom. Hello, my name is Christopher Pellinger and I’m interested in your pre-college pre-med biology summer program. I am a freshman at Lenape Valley Regional High School in Stanhope NJ. Although my transcript does not show it yet I am going into my third marking period with a strong backing receiving straight A’s in all honors over the last marking period. Taking all honors for the first time as a freshman in high school has been an adventure, sure enough. In my first two marking periods my classes have been so interesting, but the class I find the most …show more content…
I find all that I’m learning in biology so interesting. With all of this I would love to take it farther at your summer program at Stevens. In addition I think I might have narrowed down the field I want to work in when I am older. Throughout my life adults have been always asking me “What are your plans for your future?” and I think I might have narrowed it down, but still I don’t think I will know exactly what I want to do for a while. “I want to do something in the medical field,” is what I tell people who ask. I found this out through my science and biology classes. At Stevens I feel as if I could narrow done what I want to do in my future. I could explore different branches of biology and find out what really interests me. This would mean for me that I would not only have a job in the future, but a job I love which is what everyone wants. I have been reading and hearing about you summer programs at Stevens for a couple years now and can’t wait to hopefully go this summer. At your summer program I can further my interests in science, explore possible careers, and have a great time. Thank you for taking your time to read

While also being a student-athlete, I’ll swim 2 and a half hour a day after school. Regardless of the homework given or test I’d find the time to accomplish it all, and get the grade to prove it. These are all things I want to do, things I've wanted always get my 100 % effort.…

My experiences, academic background and personality are three key aspects of my life that make the medical field a preference and a particularly suitable field for me. My interest in medicine was first sparked when I volunteered at CentraState Medical Center working with geriatric patients. To further explore this interest, I joined the First Aid Squad in my town. Riding on ambulances and volunteering at the squad provided much-needed insight into the field and taught me valuable skills, such as patient care and effective communication. After completing a four-month intensive EMT course and state exam, I can proudly say that I am now a New Jersey certified EMT.…

On Wednesday, September 21st, the junior and senior class of my school went to Franklinton High School—where we were introduced to post-secondary institutions such as state universities and local community colleges. I admittedly already had a fair idea of what I planned on doing after school. My “carefully thought-out plan” was this: I would go to Northshore Technical Community College in the summer to get my CNA so that I can gain the patient-care experience necessary for my later plans for college. I would then attend LSU for four years and earn a bachelor’s in dietetics, and possibly minor in psychology. Afterward, I would attend a PA school somewhere within the US—possibly the one at LSU.…
