Through labs, I was able to not only obtain a better understanding but also enjoy learning about the different molecules and the complexities of genes. By using a computer program, called Simbio, I gained a visual image of the different causes of evolution and the different diverse ecosystems. Biology made me appreciate the various forms of life.fo

I looked at the incredible things that people and animals do and I found that all the intricate working of biology and chemistry that made all of their actions possible, only added to the awesomeness of it all. Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life. From my earliest memories she has struggled with blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies.…

The human body is arguably the most researched organism on Earth. The intricate relationship between molecular, anatomical and physiological characteristics of it astounds me, yet what interests me most is not how powerful the human body is as a whole, but how ultimately our physiology can fail us. Studying biology at an undergraduate level will allow me to grasp a deeper understanding as to why this happens, as well as develop my existing knowledge of the mechanisms involved in keeping humans alive. A-level biology has provided me with a broad spectrum of knowledge; topics outlining the function of the body, such as the circulatory system and the immune system, have further stimulated my desire to pursue degree level study.…

However, the nervousness and anxiety quickly faded away after meeting with the U-100 instructor before class. What made things better was when the instructor explained what she expected from my part as u-100 mentor, but more importantly, allowing me to contribute in class discussions when I felt it was right. Therefore, I did not feel a sense of pressure to have to talk every other minute.…
