Decent Essays
I believe that my biggest challenge was my lack of humility and modesty. Coming into Xavier High School, I was an Ignatian Scholar, taking all honors classes and being seen as the best of the best among the freshmen class. Through the new pressures and more difficult work, my experiences of high school became rather overwhelming to me, and I began to receive the lowest grades I had ever received. Although I was offered a tutor, I did not believe that I needed one since I never needed help in any time in my schoolings. Ever since grammar school, I was used to being the smartest person in the room and ecstatic to be the first person in my family to finish high school and go to college. I was soon kicked out of all my honors classes and the Ignatian

(CHALLENGE) I really started to struggle keeping my homework in line. I was used to having so much time to organize and complete my work; but now, I had basketball practices and games after school that consumed most of my time. A lot of nights I would have mental breakdowns due to stress. My homework also became much more demanding; College Algebra got more challenging week by week, Honors English papers required more time, and U.S. History current events were due every class period. My grades started to slowly slop downward.…

I didn’t not know what I was expecting. On the first day of high school, I stepped into a crowd of students, waiting to enter the building that would become my second home for the next four years. I didn’ not know where I would stand among these highly accomplished individuals, or if I would even amount to the standards set before me. Self-doubt began to fester inside of me as soon as I stepped through the front doors. I expected less and less of myself as time went on.…

I never thought sonograms would play a part in two of the most memorable experiences of my life, experiences that lead me to my husband, my daughter, and now the opportunity to join the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. I have come a long way in such a short time, from being the last student in my graduating class to a mother, a wife, and a homeowner, all by the age of twenty-two. Before any of those achievements, I was just another teenager in high school. Those years, at least for me, were some of the more difficult times academically.…

My greatest challenge with high school was surviving freshman year Spanish class. Just like David’s educational experience from, “Me Talk Pretty One Day”, I suffered from dealing with a difficult language teacher who overall made me into a better student. It was already tough trying to learn a new language but my teacher Mr. Farnelli made it even worst. Mr. Farnelli was an old Italian man who spoke about six or seven different languages.…
