Some assume that everything can be fixed and blame health care providers when it cannot. I believe that education is a priority for patients and their health care needs. Nurses play an important role to help patients embrace more realistic understanding of health care needs. My assumptions about communities is that they play an important role. Communities serve as the support system for patients and health care providers alike. The offer health screenings, resources, education, vaccinations, disease testing, and a sense of belonging. Communities bring together people to live healthier lifestyles and promote social well-being. To be a person means to have a uniqueness and a sense of self. A person should be treated with dignity and respect at all times. It means to have self-determination when it comes to all health care decisions that are made. The nursing shortage is taking its toll on my facility, and even when staff is present it isn 't always quality people. I find that educating staff is the best solution to this challenge. I will continue to educate in order to provide quality, team approach to health care for my patients. As I further my career, I see my goals becoming more clear. I am continuing my education to become a nursing educator. I feel this is important to help provide nurses to fulfill the shortage that the health care field is experiencing. I practice my education every chance I get. Even if it is reassuring myself of a procedure, I will talk it out before I go in and perform. This paper was not difficult to write once I thought about my feelings towards nursing. I think that writing this helped to reinforce my beliefs about nursing. That nurses should be selfless and this career choice is not for everyone. Patients need us in their corner when they cannot help themselves. I feel as if it helped me point out what was important to me as it is written black and white on the screen. It helped reinforce why I am continuing to go to school, and where I see myself in three years, five years and twenty years from now. I look forward to the years to come as I embrace my nursing
