My Beliefs In The Bible

Improved Essays
This module did more to reaffirm my belief in God and God’s word, the Bible. Approximately seven years ago, my beliefs were not as strong as they are as of today. While growing up, my mother would take my brother and me to church every Sunday and we would attend Wednesday night services as well. Although, I was raised in a two parent home, my father did not attend church with us. This was mostly because he worked on Sundays. As a child, I grew up thinking as long as one attended church thoughts toward Christ grew, too.
I would think to myself, if we are all worshipping the same God, why are there so many churches? Many of these churches have conflicting beliefs or choose to focus on one aspect of God’s word as opposed to the whole work.

It was remarkable how God used her, of all people, to help me get through my situation. We would just talk for hours about God and how He is able to change any situation and anybody. I eventually gained the strength to leave that unfortunate situation with her son. I began to recommit and seek a deeper relationship with God. We were able to continue to be friends even afterwards. She is good person who understands that sometimes God allows us to encounter bad things to teach us what we do not need as well as to express to us what is essential.
This woman reshaped my ideas on getting to know God. She had a Bible in her car in her living room, in her bedroom, and in her bedroom. Any place he might go, she had a Bible ready when she needed it. I had seen Bibles in people’s homes, however, this was a new concept for me. Having a Bible any and everywhere you might be. It was one of those things I never thought about until I met her. She would spend a lot of time by herself, in silence and reading her Bible. She motivated me to start reading my Bible and simple spending quality time with my

Give examples of how the practice of ministry has affected your experience and understanding of A) God At the core of my understanding of God is a God of love in covenantal relationship with God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 says it well; “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The practice of ministry has only proven to strengthen that belief. I was called early Saturday morning to sit with a family who had just learned of the death of their daughter/granddaughter in a vehicle accident.…

Leadership on the line by Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linksys is a very timely book. Maggie’s description of her Indian community and the effects of alcohol made me think of many urban communities and the pain that lurks in those communities. The stories she shares about Lois and the heart she had for her community and desire to make it better make you think we need more leaders like that. Lois leadership inspired me because she saw something wrong in her community she believed she could bring change. Lois is a good picture of servanthood she doesn’t sit and think someone should so something…

We are, however, kept in suspense for six chapters as a new voice entered – and it was not a timid voice. We will explore the nature of Elihu’s role at length but suffice it to say here that he certainly made himself heard, expressing his anger at Job as well as the friends for not doing justice to the difficult issues and adjudicating some of the fine points of the arguments. He also set the stage for the appearance and voice of the LORD. Then the LORD Answered Job (chs 38-41)…

This reflective essay provides some preliminary thoughts on the development of my own faith and practice in light of all topics covered in this class. Coming to the close of this spring quarter, this systematics class discussed multiple themes within theology proper. The readings and discussions dealt with ways to approach doing theological reflection to working through the third article of the Creed. It seems impossible to pick one or two of these topics and speak about their influence on my development and integration. Yet, giving it the old college try, the author will break up this paper into three sections: theological development, making sense of my faith, and importance of doctrine.…

“It must have been a Thursday. Or maybe a Friday – no it was definitely a Thursday because I wanted to stay home and watch some T.V. show that night.” The voice of Pastor Matthew Simmons echoed through a half-full congregation as the Sunday morning stragglers leisurely shuffled their feet through the small Ohio church aisles. “Some of you have known me for a while now but today I want to tell you about something that happened to me when I was younger. I want to tell you about the day I met Jesus.”…

I sometimes question about my beliefs by asking myself why I am doing this instead of that, or why I think doing this is right and doing that is wrong. I gradually realize that my actions and thoughts are profoundly shaped by a set of core beliefs, which are influenced by my family, culture, and especially religion. In this paper, I will discuss my beliefs about text and scripture in religion, moral actions and consequences, life after death, helping people, and loving our parents. First of all, I believe that it is helpful, but not required to know the text and scripture in order to believe in a religion.…
