The ecological system theory was invented by Urie Bronfenbrenner. The theory tries to explan ones development through their relationships and surroundings. The different sections of the ecological model consist of the microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, marosystem and chronosystem.
The microsystem consist of people that have a direct influence on your life. The people that are in my microsystem is my, mom, dad, sister, Grandma and zeff and my teachers from high school and college.
My grandma has created a big impact on my life. When I was young my grandma was very concerned about my outer appearance. For example before I would go out with her she would call me into her bedroom and put a tummy tucker around my stomach. In addition, when I used …show more content…
She has influenced both my education and life decisions . for example When she realized the school system that I was enrolled wasn’t beneficial to my education she moved me in to a town with a better educational system. Also During the summer, she would provide me with workbooks that allowed my mind to stay sharp for the next school year. Also to keep me safe from my old neighborhood my mom enrolled me into many different activates such as gymnastics, karate, ballet, jazz tap and soccer and swimming. Also she enriched my mind into different cultures and history by taking me to many museums. To produce good grades in school she gave us money anytime we aced an exam and then put the exam on the …show more content…
My parent’s work place is one part of my exosystem. As a teacher my mom was able to have the same vacations that i used when I was a child. This gave her the time to take us on various vacations during holidays and summer breaks. My mom is also able to take sick days as a teacher. Sick days gave her the ability to take time off work and take care of me when I was sick. Also being a teacher she was able to take the weekends off which made her available to celebrate my birthday with me. In total my moms job allowed her to be there for me though the developmental stages of my life.
Another section of my exosystem is Stony Brooks decision to change their Occupational therapy program to a Master’s program. When this occurred, I was left in limbo for a while and I was forced to find another major. This was very unfortunate to my educational carrier since I spent so many years building credits and volunteering to get into this program. Hence, now I have to start over again since the credits are not transferable into the education
