The Reflection Of Formal Writing

When I was a child my mother would use the phrase, "image is everything" quite frequently. I now come to gather that she really meant that making a good first impression by developing a clean vibe generating off of you is a must. I carry that wisdom over to all my work in school and attempt to excel in everything that I work on. Therefore that mindset carries onto the papers that I write. I love to show my freedom of expression through words. My attitude toward writing is overwhelmingly positive. I prefer writing formally because I have more specific guidelines that I need to follow. Formal writing is also my preference because in school I have excelled on every essay or prompt I 've ever written. Formal essays are straight forward, they …show more content…
I do also approve of creative writing, I classify myself as a creative person. But when it comes down to it I will chose a formal essay over a creative piece any day because I can follow guidelines precisely. I have done well on every essay I 've ever written and my teachers have always enjoyed my work. Of course, I am human, so my work does have flaws but overall I am confidence in the process I take to write my papers. My process of writing starts off with never doing a rough draft unless absolutely necessary. There is no reason for me not to make a rough draft, It is always recommended by my peers and my teachers but I personally feel like I am holding myself back from the writing process I perform best at. I jump straight into opening a word document and review the questions I have been assigned to answer. I then take a page per question and restate the question so I know I definitely answer the things that are being asked of me. Elaboration, I find is the most important part of my writing process. This is my favorite part of the writing process as well because this is …show more content…
I am willing to try new ways of writing and leave my comfort zone for a chance. In high school, my teachers do not make me write many papers, but when they do they do not analyze my work to the fullest. To achieve the highest possible grade I can I am going to exceed any expectations that I am assigned. I want all of my papers to have a specific wow factor. I always take constructive criticism in a positive light. I actually love getting constructive criticism because it lets me know what I need to work on because I am a perfectionist. My goal is for every essay is to write about something I really like so I can get every ounce of joy I have in my being and display it through my work. For example, for my intro to nursing class I needed to write a paper about how Radioactive Chemistry affects X-ray Technology. In my case, I love everything that has to do with both Chemistry and X-ray scans as I want to graduate and become an X-ray Consult. I fell in love writing that paper and that is how I want to be every time writing a paper for this class. I enjoy writing and write my feelings and personal experiences down every day. My goal is just to improve and witness self growth as I put myself through high school and college at the same

Going through elementary school reading was always a struggle for me. It was challenging for me to fully comprehend what we were doing and reading in the class. Every friday I would go to see a teacher one on one to practice reading it involved being timed and having to tell her everything I had just read so that it would build up my comprehension. I remember feeling very embarrassed to be pulled out of class for extra help. Going through that didn't help that much, I was missing class…

It was hard to write an essay for the first time because I did not have the knowledge or concept of this writing style. Before this class, I thought I knew what writing was all about by expressing my thoughts, ideas and feeling. I know now that I had the wrong concept on how to write. I can express my thoughts, ideas and feeling, but if I put them in the wrong contents it does not lead the reader to the point of the essay.…

Over the course of this semester in my English 1320 class I have seen a drastic change throughout my writing style. Although I still have difficulties with a few writing tasks, I believe that I have improved significantly throughout this course. I have found that with my professor’s guidance along with my own personal editing that my grades have increased. Although it is difficult to not get caught up in simply striving for a letter grade or attaining a 4.0 grade point average, I would like to believe that my main goal was different. Of course I would love to achieve those goals as well, but overall my primary goal throughout this class was to become more relaxed and comfortable in my writings, to use new strategies and proper kinds of conventions, and to truly find a way to express my passion on these papers.…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. The writing process is different and unique to all individuals; many people follow the ideal steps of prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing as opposed to others taking shortcuts, skipping steps, and going straight to editing.
