I was able to observer four, interview three and hang out with two amazing teachers while on the field this semester. My observations this time around were so much better than the last semester. I observed at Stockard middle school again but in a whole different class environment, and L O Donald elementary exceeded my expectations, Due to end of the year exams at Stockard, I had to observe to band teacher Ms. Smith. Her classes where all different form one another, but all the students were very enthusiastic to attend her class. Donald, I treated so wonderfully by the Kindergarten and first grade teachers. I cannot even begin to descript how welcomed those teachers made me feel, but I know I have never felt so honored to be at any other school that I’ve volunteer or intern at like I did at L.O Donald. It may be because it is so close to summer or that it was the last Friday of the school year but all the teachers and staff I was able to meet were all so kind. At this school I spent the day with Ms. Sherely, Ms. Garza and Mr. Alvarado all teachers in the same hall who from what I saw really got along. Their classroom were all very different but the one I was impressed by the most was by Ms. Alvarado. I was able to spend a small amount of time with him and his class and I saw the most organized well trained class. The class was attentive to the teachers instructions, well behaved except for a very few students and over all extremely well-disciplined students. In Ms. Garza’s class the thing I was most amused by was a student contract and “happy dice”. Ms Garza believes her 1st graders should be held responsible for their actions therefore she created the students social contract saying that they will respect each other, work together, share, help, be nice and so on, the students all signed it and agreed to it. The happy dice is an excises they do in the class to share and better know each other, the students pass around a dice and share something happy that they did that

My observation of Ms. de la Fuente’s 5th grade class this week started after lunch during their math time. On Wednesday, their schedule had been different from normal and there was two other teachers in the classroom teaching them about different types of rocks. On Thursday, a sixth grade math teacher came to the classroom to further explain what they had been learning about conversions, and to tell them about what they would learn next year when they went to sixth grade.. During arrival in the morning and dismissal in the afternoon, the same routine is followed on almost all days. In the morning, the students go wait in the gym and are picked up by the teacher when the first bell rings.…

During this phase in my PLE I really thought the teacher focused on the InTASC #3 which is learner environment. I say this because the first thing she did was put the students into a group and then gave them a story to read, and after they read the story they had to collaborate with each of their group members to come up with a question. Then they have to share this with the class so everyone can learn from the question they asked. Once they are done with the questions they are supposed to come up with their own story, this ties in the critical thinking aspect of learning along with more collaboration with the group. After all the groups have worked on their books they are going to take turns going around and each group will read their…

Once each of the students have entered the class, Mrs. Solomon opens the class session by enthusiastically saying, “Welcome back!”…

I can empathize with teachers who say that the observation and evaluation process does not seem reciprocal in nature. Most of my follow-up evaluations have either been waived or conducted in five minutes or less in which the principal hits upon the highlights of my observation. Very few teaching lessons have been learned through these interactions. In her article though, Shelly Arneson includes sound practices that can be implemented to alleviate many of the concerns of the evaluation process. Her basic premise is to shift the dialogue from inspection-based conversation to a reflection-based conversation.…

The computers were located along the back wall of the room and it was very tight in that space due to a table being right next to them. She had stations set up for toys, books, a train set, sand, and white boards. The students had easy access to them and had no trouble being around each other.…
