My Artifacts Research Paper

Decent Essays
The first object I would say is one of my life’s artifacts would be art supplies. My art supplies are mostly made up of pencils and paints, such as colored pencils, watercolor pencils, oil paints, acrylic paints, and water based paints. This artifact is important to me because ever since I was a small child I’ve been drawing wherever I could. When I became older my older brother would sit with me and teach me all of the techniques that he used when he drew. Art supplies are an artifact of my life because of the role they’ve played in my life so far. Another artifact to describe my life would be catcher’s gear from softball. Catcher’s gear is protective padding, a glove, and a helmet that is worn by the catcher in softball and baseball.

The objects that I were assigned were the Bandolier bag from the Native American Delaware Tribe, and the Painted elk hide from the Easter Shoshone tribe. Bandolier bags were extremely popular among most Native American tribes, and each tribe expressed their culture through them in a different way. This particular Bandolier bag comes from the Delaware, or Lenape, Tribe. It is estimated that it was created around 1850 C.E., and is crafted with beads on leather hide. This object has two components to it, one being the shoulder drape and the other being the small bag.…

Given that we can only guess and see one side of the story, all of the information we can get about artifacts are helpful. For instance, the most helpful thing to know is the name or title of the artifact and when it was given. Like with the Seal of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, knowing that it is a symbol of their colony shows how they viewed their interactions with the Native Americans. Mainly, due to their location, they were able to trade a lot of lumber, fur, fish,…
