My Argument Against Gay Marriage

Decent Essays
When asked am I for or against gay marriage, I would say I am biased. Im more against it than for it but in the world we live in it isn't surprising that this law has been granted. On June 26, 2015 the supreme court passed a law for gay marriage. This allows the same sex to get married. When this law was passed many people rejoiced in happiness while others were infuriated and upset. I personally was nonchalant to the whole situation. Im not quite a judgemental person so I wasn't affected by it. I believe that gay marriage goes against God so I do believe it is wrong all together. However my feelings can't change a law so I pretty much have to accept it. Honestly I would have voted against this law if i was allowed. I believe that we were …show more content…
With that being this way many gay people distance themselves from their families and friends because they want to avoid being judged. There are many different reasons why people go gay. The most common reason I've heard personally is when someone is molested, raped, or mistreated by some one of the opposite sex it makes them want to turn to the same sex for love. The reason I believe they are more comfortable with the same sex after an incident, is because when they are around the opposite sex which hurt them they have memories of what they went through. Another common reason a person may go gay is having alot of gay friends and then they want to try it to see what the thrill is about and eventually the gay lifestyle grows on them. The reason I am against gay marriage being legal is because I feel like this will confuse our upcoming generations. When I was growing up I was taught right from wrong but in this day and time wrong seems to be okay. With this gay rights movement they are now even allowing transgenders to use whatever bathroom they are comfortable in. I feel like this decision will also be a huge disaster. Allowing transgenders into any bathroom they are comfortable in is like telling sex offenders to put on a dress then they will have access to the ladies

It does not matter what one believes about gay marriage, no one can ignore the enormous progress it has achieved in the past few years. However, this does not mean that all of the problems are solved. Many people still harass and hate all LGBT people while some simply tolerate them, but do not want the “homosexual agenda rubbed in their face”. Everybody is entitled to have their own opinion about marriage equality, but when the law does not allow homosexuals to have the exact same rights to marriage and their partner as heterosexuals do, then it is in fact, oppression. The law is supposed to be objective and unbiased and honestly, bias (whether it be religious or scientific) is the only thing stopping the entire world from legalizing marriage…

Obergefell vs. Hodges case legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states. I know this is a very sensitive subject, but I do not believe in same sex marriage, I think it is wrong and unbiblical. It was ruled unconstitutional to deny a marriage license because of the Due Process clause and the Equal protection clause. Even though this can be applied, it shouldn’t be because the original definition of marriage wasn’t between two individuals of the same gender.…

Social/Policy Implications: The Obergefell v. Hodges case is one of the most controversial. As is the case with all issues, there are at least two sides. This is no different as the Supreme Court received praise and applause for breaking a social barrier. They also received criticism for straying from tradition and supporting an undesirable group of people.…

Throughout history many Americans have aspired for same-sex marriage. Unfortunately, not everyone agrees. Opponents of same-sex marriage see marriage to traditionally be defined as marriage between one man and one woman. According to opponents, primarily, marriage is for procreation. On the other hand, proponents of legal gay marriage believe that gay marriage bans are…

During the debates over the Reconstruction amendments, I was particularly interested in the controversy about the ambiguous compromise of rights that the 14th amendment declared to protect with its Equal Protection Clause. Equality is difficult to define with the various interpretations in precedent and it has proven to still be a continued controversy today. More specifically, the controversy that has persisted is the issue of whether the State or Federal government would be the ones to decide who would protect equality and define it. The controversial views over equality in accordance to the 14th amendment persisted in the cases of Plessy and the political equality over social equality.…

Regardless to how one feels about it, everyone has the same right and the same freedom to do whatever they choose to do as long as it does not cause harm to anyone else. Same sex marriage does not cause harm to anyone. This is a matter of two people coming together for the sake of love who want to spend their life together. They should not have their civil rights violated just because they want to take a path that is not familiar or popular. They should not be judged critically because they do not fit into what has been known to be traditionally correct or politically correct.…

On June 26, 2015, LBGT+ activist groups rejoiced as the United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage believing that a ban of it violated the 14th amendment of the Constitution. This didn’t help stop any hatred of same-sex couples and it seemed that the world would implode due to the court’s decision However, backlash soon followed, leading to an Appeals court, saying it didn’t violate the 14th amendment and many “Christian” groups saying the ruling by the Supreme Court goes against the bible. In the case of Obergefell vs. Hodges, the ruling has influenced the United States to take steps in a more progressive future where everyone has equal rights and helping America begin its transition into a more positive light with supporting this decision. Much of the backlash from this decision was due to these different “Christian” activist groups who said that same-sex marriage went against their religious liberties and violated the bible in Leviticus. Which is quite hilarious as none of them probably adhere to the teaching in the book of Leviticus like no eating shellfish and no mixing different materials to wear like a cotton, polyester blend…

Gay marriage is indeed one of the most disputable issues that has been raging from the past till today. In truth, the issue of gay marriage is of utmost importance as it concerns individual rights, especially for the homosexual community. Since the last twentieth century, homosexuality has always been viewed with contempt and individuals are often discriminated or judged by their sexual orientation. In today’s modern world, the biggest advocates against gay marriage are perhaps the people of faith. With the moral beliefs that marriages support procreation, gay couples should never ever be given the right to marry as they are unable to have their own child like heterosexual partners could.…

Why? Being gay is natural. Sure, moral fundamentalists may think it is a sin, but who are they to deny rights to those who are doing something that is just as right as a man loving a woman? Gays couples can be models of family life, offering just as much love and support for children as hetersexual couples. Gender should not be covered by marriage law, as the constitution protects US citizens from gender discrimination.…
