Example Of Observation In Preschool

My area set up will be based on prior observations of the preschoolers in Start room. The area plan will use outside activities to help enhance certain developmental domains. The activities are intended to meet the needs of all the children to ensure optimal development. I noticed that many of the preschoolers from Star room really enjoy playing with balls. They like to kick balls, throw balls, catch balls, etc. One day when we were playing outside and there were two tiny cotton basketballs. Many of the children automatically approached the balls and started to lay with them. I noted how the children had trouble catching the tiny balls and throwing them to one another. Star room is constantly filled with numerous toys and activities that the children can freely play with. Jean-Jacques Rousseau maturationist theory, support my observations by emphasizes the importance of providing optimal conditions, to help children develop accordingly to their own schedule (Brewer, 2007, p.7).

Physical development: Throwing-The children will throw with increased co-ordination
The way(s) this will be accomplished: Is through a throw at target game. The children will have to throw the balls into the targeted area.
Physical development- The children will balance on a moving object
The way(s) this will be accomplished: Is through the use of scooters. The children will have to balance on one foot as they use the other foot to push the scooter. Once the preschooler is at a comfortable speed they will then begin to balance with both feet on the scooter.
Cognitive development: Representation- the children will accurately pretend to be something
