My Antonia by Willa Cather has multiple main themes that heavily prevails throughout the book. The four most prevalent are human’s relationship to the past, their relationship to the future, their relationship to the environment and religion. These four themes shape and heavily influence the book.

( 1) A human’s relationship to the past was one of the biggest themes in this book as the reader can see various characters taking trips down memory lane quite a few times. (3) Quickly, the reader sees this with Jim, Antonia, Lena, and the Shimerdas all looking back on their old lives. (2) In my “My Antonia” there is on passage that showcases the characters' relationship with the past.

Even if it is not a distant past, for instance, seniors who have about one year for graduating would miss the time when they just entered a university and some office workers would sometimes look back on their school days. She wanted to learn English and work on the farm even though that was not what was wanted of her, but she did it anyway.…
