My Antonia: Comparing The Book And Movie

My Antonia shows about two people struggled with life, except one of them gets the worse end than the other. Jim Burden meets Antonia Shimerda along with the rest of the Shimerda family. Jim was told to teach Antonia about English when they were kids, so this causes Jim and Antonia to grow up as close friends. They grew distant since Mr. Shimerda committed suicide due to being homesick, which causes Antonia to take his place and work, while Jim is going to school. They grew up which causes people to go after Antonia due to her beauty while Jim denies he has feelings for her.
Jim eventually goes to college to become a lawyer, he meets Lena. Antonia advises him to avoid her, but he dates her anyways. The outcome leads to Jim’s GPA ruined, until his tutor gets Jim to move to Harvard with him to leave Lena. Jim completes college and returns to see Antonia, but she’s dealing with her life-changing problems. Antonia is nevertheless the similar person Jim first met which he felt relieved for. The twist in the story would be about the best friend who has died from an accident or made their final breath from a disease. The story would continue to build sorrow, grief, and sadness for the viewers by showing how the main character is dealing with his or her emotions. There is movies that simply end with a cliffhanger or the movie would try to repair the viewers’ emotions by giving a message to the main character. The message wouldn’t only give hope for the spectators, but, it would tell others to keep moving forward despite what happened. The movie would tell about how people face their emotions, by giving the people way to tell that their loved ones would encourage them to achieve their goals even if they aren’t there
