Everyone I meet is an NPC I could potentially help or do side-quests for. Every “hater” is a mini-boss that looks daunting but is actually pretty easy to beat. Insecurity or self-doubt is the real boss. But like every good game series it doesn’t end with one awe-inspiring boss battle. The journey is never done. Princess Peach is always in another castle. Everything I learn is just another point added to the skill tree and with enough training and exp I can unlock the ultimate skill in that branch. How do I bring this back to how this has got me to where I am?
Well notice that everything that happens in a typical RPG benefits the character, making him stronger, or revealing the plot, in this case the plot is the grand scheme of life, and the skill tree represents my level of education. Each battle is a pattern, hit, dodge, dodge, take cover, run around, hit, hit. Dead. We all live this pattern of life on repeat, but that is not to say each repeat is a simple duplicate of its predecessor. We work or go to school for 5 days, rest a weekend, not every day is the same, we learn, but that isn’t reflected in our schedules.
