With myself being a college student, sitting in on a lecture for an average of hour and a half listening to the instructor can get boring at times. Several time during lectures I have catnapped into my own thoughts and losing focus and attention on topics discussed in class. This strike of boredom has resulted in me using a digital device whether it be a computer or a phone in order to keep myself entertained. Just like me, others have found themselves victims of this. According to an article regarding distractions in classrooms by electronic devices called “Digital Distractions in the Classroom: Student Classroom Use of Digital Devices for Non-Class Related Purposes” by Bernard McCoy, a professor at University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Based on a survey mentioned in the article, an average respondent uses a digital device 10.93 times for texting, social networking, and emailing in order to fight boredom, entertain themselves, and to stay connected to the outside
