I have never been just one thing. My parents have strong Peruvian roots, born and raised with several generations tracing back to the Incas. However, they moved to Argentina during their young adulthood, where they eventually met through mutual friends and had me. I was raised in Argentina until the ripe age of five. Around that time, my dad had managed to get green cards for my himself, my mother, sister, and I to come to America. My parents somehow decided on settling in New Jersey. My dad flew to America first and after a couple of months, so did my mother, sister, and I. However, she did know the basics that she believed in which was God, the Holy Spirit, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Bible that being said she considered herself Christian and raised me as a Non-Denominational Christian. That was until my senior year of High School when my mom decided she no longer wanted to be part of the Non-Denominational Christian faith and switched over to becoming part of the LDS faith known as the Mormons and flipped my life upside-down with their different views of norms and values. Growing up Non-Denominational Christian is fairly simple faith and to me…

As Americans we have different values compared to other cultures. “Yesterday”, a song written by Atmosphere reflects on American values intended to an audience of the younger American generation in hopes to inspire them to appreciate informality, honesty, optimism, self-help, time, and change. The values represented in this song may be offensive to other cultures as they typically value formality, indirectness, past orientation, birthright inheritance, human interaction, and tradition. The meaning of this song is to teach that communication is important to bond relationships because nothing lasts forever, so cherish what you have now because tomorrow is never promised. This song had taught me many values to live by.…
