Looking at the current theme , my Ah-Ha moments are that social work role were recognized, there was an increase demand for trained social workers.
The CASW became more active and used the opportunity to enlarge the scope of the profession. The association continued its efforts in consolidating their branches and members all over the country and also used this period to establish the standards of practice, set ethical guidelines, and also took time to study the problems that are related to social work shortage and issues related to training and education. These are what has become the ethics of the profession. The CASW gave their commitment of service to the federal government, this was well accepted. The CASW was given their first assignment on war related issues in 1940 concerning “British guest children”, here they demostrated their ability to take responsibilities, for the placing, supervising, investigating and selecting private homes for these children.
The CASW played an important role during the war and post war period addressing most of the issues related to demands. The scope of soial work practice was wider in scope, they became involved in welfare departments, in immigration Department, war tme Prices and Trade Board, in the Department of National Health and welfare, active military services, old age pension departments, veterans’ affairs, unemployment insurance and children aids societies (The Social Worker 1943b:20).

Thirdly, they were required to develop awareness of the political and social issues so that they can work towards improving social conditions. This will demand their working collaboratively with other agencies within the social system to accomplishing these goals.
Lastly, the Progressive Program emphasis the need for self-development, here the branch activities would focus on organizing training, discussion groups, proving refresher courses and being apart of association meetings.
I noticed the social work profession gain providence and they are better organized and were more proactive in their approach. At this period they began to engage in a co-operative relationship with the federal government, even though they criticized aspect of the government policy and the inadequate support on welfare and social issues, they continue to work within the established parameters laid by the
