Dear Colleagues: For writing project 1, we did not argue about whether McCarthy’s strategy was effective, we assumed it was effective and instead argued about which rhetorical elements, we believed were crucial to the understanding of his strategy. I argued that his introduction, his use of the three appeals (specifically ethos), and his diction were most crucial in the success of his strategy. I believe my essay has many strengths, and these include my organization and the structure of my paper. I also think my claims, and the support I offer for them are very effective and compelling. These compelling and effective claims, I believe are where my paper truly shines, and these claims also highlight the most effective piece of my…

“Mariah, please report to Mr. Levine’s office for a meeting.” A weight dropped on my shoulders and I began to become very nervous. One by one we went into our assistant principle and athletic directors office. I slowly walked in and sat in the chair near his desk. He handed me a letter, which told me I was to represent girls’ soccer in the 2015 Tobacco Free ______.…
This video provides information on both the pros and cons of drug testing. One topic covered in this video is the argument for who should be required to drug test on welfare. The video gives many doctors viewpoints on how drug testing for welfare should be viewed. I could use this video to express the different opinions both for and against drug testing welfare recipients. Another way I could use this source is to write on its perspective for who should have to be drug tested on welfare.…

Cuesta College is currently serving approximately 300 self-identified foster youth. The foster youth on our Campus are one of the student populations that are most disproportionately impacted as related to the five success indicators: access, retention, degree and certificate completion; ESL and basic skills completion; and transfer. One of the huge barriers for this particular population of students is being shuffled between departments and personnel in order to receive services Cuesta College has to offer. The process becomes discouraging and impedes their chances of success.…

Throughout many years of history, those with disabilities were not always treated fairly or given equal opportunity. Activists around the world have worked together to achieve goals such as increased access to all types of transportation and a safer day to day environment. Equal opportunities in employment and education have been a big part of their efforts too. For many years, children with disabilities were many times segregated and not given an equal opportunity for a chance to learn and succeed in school. A disability should not limit a person’s choice to improve themselves and their intellectual capabilities.…
