My Accomplishments In College

It started when I was around six years old. I was riding my scooter down my driveway when my brother and I decided it would be a fun idea to race around the block. We went inside the house to ask our dad, and then we soon began to walk. As I pushed myself up the hill, I thought about what I wanted to do when I reached the top. Since I was young, I couldn’t just ride along like a normal child, but instead I insisted on attempting a trick. I was going to rapidly move the handle side to side, moving me in a zigzag motion. Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned. I immediately went off track and swerved into our neighbor’s fence. My body suddenly crashed to the ground, and I fell, with all of my weight directly on my right leg. I obviously did not stick the landing. Tears instantly filled my eyes, and I tried my hardest to get back onto my feet so I could ride again, but it was difficult. I failed …show more content…
This is another reason why I need an exceptional academic career. While my school is advanced in the area, I feel as though there aren't enough courses for me to excel in further into the future. I began taking advanced courses in seventh grade, starting with honors math. This put me into the advanced track in eighth grade for Algebra 1, and as well as this I was also recommended by my seventh grade science teacher to take a Biology and Living Environments course. Due to taking these regents classes prior to high school, I’m currently taking Geometry and Chemistry. As a regular honors student, I would’ve taken Earth Science, however I did not feel as though I would benefit from this class, given my interest in the field of medicine. So, I opted to take Chemistry instead. As I mentioned briefly before, since I’m currently taking all of the offered honors classes, I will eventually run out of options by junior or senior year. In other words, I can’t maximize my classes to the extent in which I would like

All throughout my school career, starting all the way in elementary school, school came very easy for me. I found that I rarely had to try hard at anything because it seems like I just knew it. With very little studying I was able to maintain high grades. In middle school I was put in advance math classes and it still wasn't a challenge but then in my junior year of high school things started to get difficult.…

“Why I Chose Southwest” As a homeschooled high school senior, I am unable to take Advanced Placement courses, which are college-level classes taken at a high school. Students earn college credits by taking an exam at the end of the year. To remedy this, I decided to register at Southwest Tennessee Community College for dual enrollment classes. I chose Southwest for a multitude of reasons: to complete my high school education, to provide challenging courses in preparation for college, and to grant me college credit. I opted to take Pre Calculus, English Composition, and Anatomy & Physiology this semester.…

This story begins on a hot, summer Sunday on a neighborhood playground in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida when I was a kindergartener. The playground had one item that I liked the most which was a thing that you would hold onto then someone would push you across ten feet while your feet were hanging down. My dad came up to push me and might have pushed me a little too hard. When I got to the end of the line there was a rubber block that stops you very abruptly. Due to inertia, I was flung off of the handle over the rail, then did some crazy acrobatics in the air, Finally I landed right on top of my left wrist.…

On october 5, 2015 I stared across the living room at my parents wondering how I was going to find the words to explain to them one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I had loved softball since I was a little girl and despite many years of hard work and hundreds of hours, I couldn’t help but wonder if this was the right choice for me. Growing up watching my idol, Lauren Chamberlain pursue her dreams inspired me, I spent much of my childhood emulating my hero and dreaming one day I could be just like her. My dreams were briefly interrupted when I started thinking about the future as I got older and realized that my heart really wasn't in the game of softball as much as it once was. After visits to smaller universities and long talks with head coaches, I had come to realize that playing softball in college and the small school atmosphere wasn't really what I wanted anymore.…

Failure is the act or instance of failing or proving unsuccessful. When someone fails at something it often makes them feel discouraged or apprehensive, but I have learned to look at failure differently. Failure to me is an opportunity. I have attended SCPA for nine years now, and before I came to SCPA, I went to Schiel. At Schiel you had the luxury of participating in multiple arts.…

One Friday afternoon, after a long day of school I had to go to basketball practice to get ready for regionals. Everything was going good, pretty normal practice. Our coach wanted us to get our conditioning in so he had us run some patchies. A patchy is like a suicide, which is when you run to the free throw line, turn around and sprint back, then run to the half court line and run back, and so on. But instead of turning around and running back to the line you ran backwards to the line.…

Three years into my high school I hadn't gotten into the state of mind that most over achievers have. I had floated through high school thinking I was trying my very hardest to get good grades and become a consistently studious candidate of my school. However, no matter how hard I tried I failed I gave into all the distractions and used all my obstacles as excuses became frustrated and developed an attitude problem that I had created myself. Being a consistent 2.5 student wasn't satisfying or inspiring. Uniquely enough, I had decided to take challenging courses my junior year.…

Coming into college, I had incredibly high hopes for how I thought things were going to pan out during my college career. Socially, I thought I was going to make this huge group of amazing friends who would never leave my side, and they would be the truest friends that I could ever imagine meeting. While I do see some of my friendships going that way, some of the friends that I met at the beginning of the year turned out to be the kind of friends that I wasn’t interested in keeping. I also thought coming here that I was going to come and immediately find a boy that I had feelings for, and I thought that I was going to fall in love or some gushy thing like that, kind of like you see in the movies, but that definitely hasn’t happened yet, and…
