There have been plenty of times when I have greatly struggled in a class or I could not grasp a specific concept in class. Moments like these greatly discouraged me, and as much as it seemed just easier to give up, I continued to push myself to go the extra mile because I knew the grades I had previously received, were not an accurate measure of what I am capable of. Because of the extra effort I was putting into my work, I began to see positive results, therefore boosting my levels of self-motivation and confidence.…

My personal definition of success at the end of this course is that success is to have a successful life, being able to do things independently for myself and not always have someone there to do things for me. It's achieving my goals on my own terms and at my own pace. It has changed for me because before I wasn’t really that organize with my assignments and even though I wasn’t organized I still manage to do all my work. I would put myself in a difficult position where I just don’t do anything but once that assignment is due I would start doing it at the last-minute rushing. My definition of success when I started the semester was " trying so hard and putting all your effort would take you to the top" and I have seen the changes when I had taken this course.…

Before I began my Freshman Development Seminar course with Professor Furet, I believed that this class would not be of good use to me. The reason for this was because of my beliefs in self-teaching myself to learn the basics with additional help from other sources. However, it did not turn out the way I wanted it to be. Therefore, I had to pay to get taught what I could have done on my own, at least that is what I convinced myself then and there. Throughout my class sessions with Ms. Furet, I learned more than I could have ever imagined.…

This semester has been a very informative time period due to the many different strategies that we have learned and practiced in our academic journey. I believe the most significant strategies that I demonstrated were utilizing short-term goals by making them clear and specific enough to complete them, creating a schedule to manage my time so tasks could be completed, and lastly exam preparation to see optimum results. I indicated that I needed to work on these strategies because I needed to improve on my job as a student. I believe I had the necessary skills to show optimum results in my academic journey but I did not always showcase these skills.…
