Group Process in a Mutual Aid Group
During the fifth session R.P played a formal role being the facilitator. She was in charge of facilitating the fifth session about interview tips. In that session members were able to experienced one of the obstacles to the mutual aid process the general difficulty of open communication, which is related with taboo areas (shulman, 2012 p 356). M disclosed something that was bothering her since long time ago. Even though the group had to talk about interviews RP gave time to talk about M situation Shulman (2012) stated that “as the leader helps the one (individual) talk to the many (the group), the interaction will also be monitored to see if the group members appear to be listening and relating to the individual”
