Currently, if we look into the today's situation, Donald Trump most recent Islamophobic statement was on the travel ban of Muslims. As soon as Trump was elected to be the President of USA, he signed an executive order. The order consisted of banning people to enter U.S from seven-Muslim majority countries. In "US President Donald Trump signs new travel ban, exempts Iraq," Ariane de Vogue, Jeremy Diamond and Kevin Liptak talks about the new executive order which removes Iraq from the list. The ban was so strong that Muslims who visited back to their countries which were in the "Travel ban list" were stopped at the airport by Homeland security while returning back to United States (Vogue, Diamond, Liptak). Similarly, in the speech "Donald Trump on Muslims," it tells of Donald Trump saying about the complete shutdown of Muslims to enter America (CSPAN). When the federal court stayed on the executive order, there was new attempt by Mr.Trump. He passed new orders for the Muslims carrying their Laptops while travelling. In "Trump’s Muslim Laptop Ban," Charles Kurzman further supports the ideas of Vogue, Diamond and Liptak that the administration stated that Muslims from these banned countries would not be allowed to sit with their laptops within the direct flight to …show more content…
The hated and fear against Muslims was high in Bush's presidency, low in Obama's presidency but it is at its peak right now. The Muslim community are attacked mentally, physically and verbally. The mass deportation and travel ban of Muslim majority country were discussed. These effects, while the most prominent and well known, are not the only negative results Muslims had to face because of the attacks, the events of September 11, have caused much grief to Muslims over time, some reasons more obvious than others. The burden of the world's hate and suspicion is not an easy one to

September 11, 2001: 19 militants associated with Al-Qaeda, an Islamic extremist group, hijacked four commercial airliners headed for Los Angeles and San Francisco. The hijackers took over the planes, crashing two into the World Trade Center in NYC, one into the Pentagon in Virginia, and another one into an empty field in Pennsylvania. None these planes were found with survivors; around 2,996 deaths altogether. Think that’s the worst of it? What about the 4 million muslims who unwillingly died in the Middle East as a result of 9/11? Muslims all around the world were, and still are, being punished for the actions of those 19 terrorists, in whom they had no association with.…

Trump has issued new executive orders that have shocked not only Americans, but also people from all over the world. Basically what these orders are to do is that they are intended to ban Muslims from seven countries from entering the United States. Even those who have been living in America for quite a while are to be deported to their countries. What is more devastating is that students who had their student visas from their home countries to come study in the USA are no more welcomed here and have to face these new abnormal orders. I think the new executive order is definitely intended to discriminate against Muslims because there were no terrorist attacks performed from people who are from these 7 countries in the U.S.…

Social and cultural responses to 9/11 included a greater focus on family (and the time people spent with them), a higher church attendance, and an increase in patriotism, which was obvious in the large amount of American flags that were flying after the event. The media, such as TV and radio, focussed broadcasts around 9/11 as a topic and “theme”. And on the religious side, the attacks either strengthened people’s faith or made them lose it altogether. Another significant social consequence of 9/11 at the time and today is racism. An increase in hate crimes and harassment towards Muslims, South Asians, Arabs and turban-wearers (which are usually stereotypically associated with Muslims/Arabs) was reported in the days following the events of 9/11, including the murder of a non-Muslim turban-wearing man in Arizona on September 15th, just four days after the event.…

Many Muslims received beatings, derogatory names, and dirty looks because of 9/11. One event that occured were Muslim hate crimes. For example, in JFK airport a traveler beat an innocent muslim man. Reporter Stephanie Gallman wrote, “A traveler is accused of going on a racist tirade at John F. Kennedy Airport, yelling threatening slurs and kicking a Muslim Delta employee in the leg” (Gallman). This quote illustrates how people associate Muslims with radical Islamist terrorist groups.…

This was condemned for being xenophobic and religiously discriminant, as no American has ever been killed by citizens of the 7 banned countries (Beauchamp). Some criticized the influence that FOX News had on the executive order, as Trump has often praised FOX’s portrayal of himself, which would give him further incentive to watch the network and expose him to more right-wing ideology (Satlin). The executive order not only targeted Muslims outside of the United States, but marginalized Muslims and immigrants within the United States. Hence, the biased and negative portrayal of Muslims in the media has resulted in social and political issues that continue to impact American…

Day after day, echo the sounds of disconcerted newscasters, announcing the new terrorist attacks around the world; although the minority of these terror attacks, in truth, correspond with Islamic Extremist groups, politicians have exaggerated the quantity and intensity of “violent Muslims” by combining these terror attacks news with the “traditional” and “not Western” cloth preferences of some Muslims, and thus created an illogical detest towards all Muslims. This unrightful generalization that all Muslims are violent, and this judging of people wearing hijabs or thobes started to gravely pressurize Muslim people within and without their homeland. Islamophobia, the unreasonable fear and abase of the second largest religion of the globe, puts…

When this event occurred, Mamdani was in New York where he experienced the event and had seen how people viewed Islam as a political identity. Mamdani begins with modern violence, as he gives a critique of the cultural interruption of politics. Furthermore, he argues about how we should find an alternative way of thinking about the politics of Islam surrounding 9/11. There is no reason for the United States to return to internment camps and segregation with the progress for equality ongoing, but with the rise of terrorism and racial targeting, Muslims are scapegoats in a country that is constantly undergoing change. Islamophobia, or the fear of Islam, is not the reason to justify hate crimes against millions of people attempting to live their lives. Muslims do not have the opportunity to seek justice like the Civil Rights movement groups did as Muslims are already seen as a threat to US society and will be meet with strong resistance from all sides, even among their own people. Exploring how Islam impacts United States culture and society, demonstrating how Islamophobia is spread through social media and…
