Good morning/good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the jury. Aldous Huxley, the author of the futuristic dystopian novel “Brave New World” is innocent in rightfully challenging the idea of a modern utopia. He invites the reader to challenge the ideal society as his writing is a cautionary tale and a warning to people that humanity may transform from being free independent people to slaves to our own greediness and society. “Brave New World” is a disturbing, loveless world and Huxley shows this through his writing, tapping into themes such as eugenics, behavioral conditioning, the use of advanced technology to control an entire society and showing an extreme but honest version of today’s economic standards. Huxley doesn’t mean to say that people would be happier if they were all genetically modified, nor…

My first interaction was at a chemistry laboratory, a Muslim girl decided to sit next to me. I was worried because I thought that she wasn’t going to like me or that she wouldn’t like that I was Latina. However, when we introduced each other I found her friendly and funny, and she thought the same thing about me. So, once the semester ended, we decided to take another class together because we became good friends.…

American Muslims are stereotypically assumed to be a monolithic group by many Americans, and are expected to act and behave in the same way despite big differences in their ethnic backgrounds. This assumption is justified by their perception that there is only one kind of Islam and what fundamental Muslims believe in is universal Islam because they consider the Quran as a rule book to live by without any questions or arguments. In reality, however, this is not always true, as there are divergent views of Islam which often make it difficult for people who have faith in Islam but have some unanswered questions to accept the idea of universal Islam outright. The confusion faced by such Muslims is explicitly portrayed in the book, The Journey to…
