Muslim attitudes towards punishment are all due to the readings of the Qur’an. Every punishment they run by is within the Qur’an. Muslims have no problem giving punishment as the Qur’an says criminals deserve to be punished for their bad deeds. If anyone goes against the word of the Qur’an, they will be punished severely. Different types of crimes are given different types of punishments, but the punishments must follow by the Qur’an. If a criminal continues the bad deeds, the punishments don’t repeat themselves, they become worse and soon end up with ‘capital punishment.’ It is believed that everyone must act good, even if you are not seen committing crimes as the Qur’an states that Allah sees and hears all and will soon destroy the world …show more content…
"A believer should not kill another believer, unless it happens unintentionally; whoever does so unintentionally must pay diyya to the family." Diyya is a financial compensation paid to the heirs of a victim. In Arabic, the word means both blood money and ransom. The reason it’s literal meaning is ‘blood money’, is due to the fact that Diyya requires a murderer to pay compensation to the heirs or family members of whom he or she has murdered.

When a person has been killed or caused to die by another, the prescribed blood money rates are as follows:
• 100,000 riyals if the victim is a Muslim man
• 50,000 riyals if a Muslim

As Hudud punishment requires a lot of evidence, it isn’t fair if the person that is guilty gets away without being punished so if there are three witnesses but four is required, a Hudud punishment cannot be made according to the Qur’an, so the punishment will be decided by a Qadi and what he believes the punishment should be, resulting in Ta’zir punishment.

Capital Punishment:
Capital punishment in the Islamic religion is accepted, however Muslims avoid it as much as possible as peace is a priority within in the religion. However, due to the Qur’an having Hudud punishments, when a crime is committed and the crime is one of the crimes mentioned in the Qur’an, if the Hudud punishments consist of the death penalty, the criminal will be killed with no exceptions. It is not that Muslims like Capital Punishment, it is because they go by Allah’s words in the Qur’an sacred text.
