Imagine a world without toothbrushes. Bad breath and less teeth everywhere. It would be like this if Muslims hadn’t invented it. Muslims made many important advancements but the most important were in mathematics, medicine and astronomy. The world, especially Europe and America, would be so much different without these advancements. Some may believe that coffee is a better Muslim invention because it is one of the most popular global products. However, The advancements in mathematics were more important. They are used everyday by millions of people. According to the “Muslim Achievements” article, “Al-Khwarizmi also made groundbreaking advances in the field of algebra.” It also says that, “A book by the muslim mathematician al-Khwarizmi introduced that number system to Europe. We call the symbols that we use for numbers today (0,1,2,3,...9) Arabic numerals…”. This shows that if it weren’t for Arabs we wouldn’t have the numbers that we use today.
