Being commercially trained first has influenced my individuality of a performer greatly. It has permitted me to learn to engage with the audience, to attack choreography and not just go through the motions. Resulting in strong movement quality
I perceive this as strength as Bandauer.D, Rovegno.T(2016)state “Simply performing the skill is not enough—the quality of the movement matters” I feel that the training I have received can help me to push myself as a performer. I will focus on perfecting the Tree, Mountain and Triangle poses as these are appropriate to strengthen an individual’s balance over time. Furthermore Musicality has always been strength for me, in competitions it became my strongest point. Music inspired me to perform and I believe that it is important to be in time an to have the ability to express the music through your movements. Alwin.N,Murry.L(2005)Say that “musicality is one of the dancers graces” I agree with this statement as a performer who has good musicality is comfortable to watch.
I will enhance my musicality by persistently putting thought behind my movements performing with intent. In addition to set myself challenges such as playing songs and fitting and emotion or movements to the different sound elements.
I should take into consideration that other aspects of a performer’s life can have an effect on how they are building themselves as an individual performer. A healthy life style is a major factor in consideration to becoming a high quality performer. An important part of this is to ensure that I get adequate amounts of sleep each night so I can continue to develop my performance
