Personal Narrative: In My Life

people I hold closest to me on the few short days I have before I’m actually married. The night will end with a bonfire for old times sake with plenty of s’mores supplies to go around. The readings for the wedding will be the traditional Lutheran verses and vows. I do want the pastor at the end to say a passage from C.S Lewis, “Now at last they were beginning chapter one of the great story no one on earth has ever read, which goes on forever; in which each chapter is better than the one before.” I also want one of his or my family members that’s not part of the wedding party to read the cliché but loved bible verse 1 Corinthians 13.

I also want to dance to “Jackson” by Johnny cash and June Carter Cash, with my husband too. I am a huge fan of country music, especially Johnny Cash and I think if we did not dance to at least one classic country song in a barn at our wedding reception it would be some sort of blasphemy. As far as the father daughter dance song goes, it will be “In My Life” by the Beatles. That is my Dad’s favorite song by the Beatles, and anyone that knows me knows I am obsessed with the Beatles, especially Paul McCartney. I saw Paul McCartney for the first time with my dad a few summers ago and it was one of the best moments of my life thus far, and I think dancing to that on my wedding night would bring some sort of good ju-ju to my marriage. I been to a few weddings and had no idea about this phenomenon of “lighting the candle.” The only time I’ve ever seen it done was at a catholic wedding, and I really did not get what was so special about it. Upon further googling, I decided the whole candle unity thing is stupid and boring. We exchanged rings and said our vows before God, I’m not sure what else needs to be done besides that. As per tradition, I plan on having one of my friends or one of my

As I sat in the wedding, I made sure that world literature was still in the back of my head. After a while, I realized that a lot of our readings and discussions were very relatable to real world situations and I thought of the wedding in a different light. I saw themes of storytelling, religion, and tradition all through most of the wedding. The first and most obvious story that came to mind was Sunjata, the second story was the Hebrew bible, and the last story was the Bhagavad…

The practice of companions attending to the groom (Judg 14:11) seems to have continued in the New Testament period (Matt 19:15). He was preceded by singers or musicians (Gen 31:27; Jer 7:34; 16:9; 1Macc 9:39) and accompanied by torch-bearers or lamp-bearers (Neh 10:2; Jer 25:10; Matt 25:7; Rev 18:23). The bride awaited the groom with her maidens who conducted the whole party back to his own home (Matt 25:6; Cant 3:11). In the New Testament times and no doubt earlier, friends and neighbours participated in the feast that then took place (Matt 22: 1-10; Luke 14:8; John 2:2). In the Old Testament, marriage is clearly regarded from the husband’s standpoint and serves above all for the begetting of the offspring.…

What one sees in front of him is a strong motivated young woman. However, he is unaware of how this individual came to be. A once shy, timid, and inexperienced little girl has turned into an outgoing, adventurous, and skillful person over the last four years. After thinking about my life to this current point, I came to the conclusion that there are three domains that socialize every individual: family, environment, and personal experiences. I was a six pound fifteen ounce brown haired baby that was born on November 23rd, 1996, to Ronald and Vera Judge. I joined a multicultural family that already had a one-year-old infant, Rachel Judge.…
