Music education is believed to help students become more successful in academics. As the 22nd century approaches, advances in science have given scientific data that music education is beneficial for students. Giving evidence that music helps stimulate parts of the brain and promote growth in areas that are not normally stimulated in an average day. As stated in an article by Music Children’s Workshop, “Recent studies have clearly indicated that musical training physically develops the part of the left side of the brain known to be involved with processing language, and can actually wire the brain’s circuits in specific ways.” Engaging in music education can help students acquire language easier and faster. This is extremely beneficial to students who struggle with both comprehending and orally speaking a language, an aid to alleviate the national problem a program called No Child Left Behind tried to fix, but was ineffective. It is time we start looking for ways to help students that in a couple of years will be the future of this country, and that we must invest effort and time into making the most well-rounded education a student can receive. We must set up students for success not failure; in modern America we face those failures with economy crashes, poor decision making, etc. this must not occur again.
