The concert that I attended was the music at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Saint Cloud on November 15th. This concert featured the Saint Cloud State University concert choir, chamber singers, women’s choir, and men’s choir. The concert was primarily vocal with some instrumental features. The genre of this concert was mainly a concerto. The type of ensemble that this concert featured was chamber music. The historical era that was represented throughout this concert was the 20th/21st century. One instrument that I have never heard played live before during this concert was the organ. It was a very divine instrument to hear being played lived and I really enjoyed it. My favorite piece throughout this concert was “Tell My Father” because the men’s choir sang it so beautifully. All the men sang this song using a tenor voice. The melody of this song was very slow and very relaxing to listen to. This piece was homophonic because the choir was accompanied by the violin. The violin also played beautiful four minute cadenza throughout this piece too. However, my least favorite piece was “Into the West” because the pipe organ accompanied the choir in this song which …show more content…
It was very exciting to see these choirs sing with such passion. I also really liked listening to instruments live. I would rather listen to a pipe organ being played live than on a CD too. In my opinion the pipe organ sounds a lot better when it is played live too. This concert allowed me to hear new instruments live, which was a tremendously amazing experience. I was really impressed by the tenor and alto voices sang by all of the choirs, therefore by seeing this music live I was able to hear all the different types of voices. Lastly, I truly enjoyed all the cadenzas and solos that I heard during this concert. This concert was an experience that I will never forget because it was so

I loved the last piece in the third movement because it was played very well and it is an iconic piece. I had different emotions for the individual pieces were I felt at ease, delighted, and anxious with a dynamic feeling when the pieces go fast paced. This time I remembered the fast parts since I expected than the other first concert. The most memorable was Moonlight, presto movement. For the chamber groups they projected a playful vibe between each other enjoying when it alternates to one another.…

Overall I expected it to be a great performance, and it is safe to say my expectations were met. There was a lot of kids, and babies in attendance which I didn’t expect at all. The performance put on by the Orchestra was great. When the director of the orchestra entered the stage everyone in the audience gave him an applause as he starts to greet the audience, and talk about the performance. The projector behind the performers had videos, and drawings displayed that was turned into amination, and it brought the drawings to life while making the story more entertaining.…

It was very soothing and relaxing to listen to. The music that the group produced was smooth throughout the concert. In the second song, the trumpet player used the technique of covering the hole of the trumpet where the sound comes out of with his hand and it made the trumpet sound similar to the trombone. The music was smooth and slow enough that one could move to it and follow along with it.…

The pieces met my expectation, because the tone of it was very interesting especially on how it started and how it progressed during the play. I enjoyed the music because it was inspirational like humanity accomplished a great feat, also how. Also the demeanor o the musicians looked very concentrated and as for the audience they appeared to be comfortable and interested. This effected my impression of the music because the audience weren’t reacting with the tone of the music which made in confusing for myself on how to react. I would attend the concert again because it is interesting to hear and it’s a piece of history that many individuals do not appreciate and take their time to listen to something classic and beautiful the roots of music.…

The concert of the music from Appalachia was unique. I enjoyed it a lot for it not only was musically pretty, but there was substance and meaning to the words. These songs were stories of the struggles and triumphs of the people. During the concert, I felt the emotion and the presence of the people and afterwards I felt a sense of gratefulness for all that I have. I imagine the people from Appalachia contributing to the beauty and culture of their community as any other people of a community add to the beauty of theirs.…

For this live response I was able to go to the George fox jazz concert. I was surprised there was not more people there. The cool thing was there was on stage seating! I was bummed because I was not able to go up there because my back was hurting me so bad. Its alright though, the acoustics were still fine from the seat in the auditorium.…

On October 20, 2015 I had the pleasure of watching the University Jazz Ensemble II at the University of Louisville in Comstock. I have now been to a handful of jazz performances and I would have to say that this is my favorite. In this jazz ensemble, Jerry stated this particular ensemble was full of music majors, jazz majors, music educators, and graduates. I like seeing jazz ensembles that are mixed up with young and old, male and female.…

What I really enjoyed was the atmosphere. The lights were dimmed so people could feel more comfortable and the music consisted of a good balance of upbeat music, and slow music. Songs were sung and people worshiped for about forty-five minutes. This was a very moving experience. Glancing into the audience, it was evident that everyone was engaged in the worship.…

Upon attending the International Chamber Music Festival Concert, a certain ecstatic vibe could be felt as the performers walked on stage with their musical instruments. The virtuoso’s performed in pieces that contained trios, duets, and quintets; showing the concentration they required when listening to each other. When working on Chamber Music, much of the melody jumps around from instrument to instrument, show casing various solos and much of the instruments having to coincide with each other to carefully listen for the melody. The first performance, was from Mosaics, by Eric Ewazen, only introducing the first movement: I. Barcarolle. The performers Dr. Susan Berdahl (flute), Dr. Xiaohu Zhou (bassoon), and Dr. James Moyer (marimba), all played outstandingly and show cased exactly how Chamber Music is meant to be played.…

Concert Report Two The concert performance given live that I have attended on Thursday April 20th, 2017 was an organ licentiate recital by Ian Guenette. It was held at the Redpath Hall, a building located on McTavish street. The Redpath Hall was first dedicated for a library building, but is now taken charge by the Schulich School of Music. The Hall is very charming with its high selling that contains thick dark brown carved wodden beams that covers the intire ceiling and gives warmth to the room.…

The emotions expressed by not only the music but by how the musicians looked while playing these pieces made me believe that this show meant a lot to them because they would sway to the music when they weren’t playing. It had my emotions spiral out of control because some of the music was happy then it turned sad in an instance, then it would go right back to something whimsical. It’s not the typical kind of music that I would listen to daily but I am happy that I got to attend this event and hear something that I wouldn’t normally.…

On Thursday, September 29th at 7:30pm I attended the LU Symphony Orchestra Concert in Towns Auditorium. Prior to the concert beginning, I noticed a wide variety of instruments on the stage. There were some instruments that I did not know the name of but for the most part, I knew a large majority of the string, woodwind and brass instruments presented. The last time that I went to a symphony was when I was in elementary school, so attending an orchestral concert in college was a much different experience. I was fascinated by the diversity of instruments.…
