Abstract. The following paper contains a series of statistic analyses performed among a group of 92 students between 8 and 19 years old, who play an instrument at the Conservatory of Music Arrigo Pedrollo (VI). The goal of this observational study is to detect a possible relationship between instrumental studies and general studies, the students efforts toward compulsory education.
Moreover, this paper wants to deepen the variables affecting the achievement in instrument playing such as the relationship between the pupils and their professor of principal instrument, parents’ educational level, individual frequency of study, weekly hours of practice and other psychological features of the student(extraversion and conscientiousness).
